I should have said the Salt Lake City Olympics, which is what Romney headed.

What can I say? I have been watching grandkids today and my brain is fried.

The 1924 Olympiad was in Paris, but the stars of the show were the Brits (and one very fine Scot!)

Chariots of Fire was the first place I heard the term 'frogs' used to describe the French. Something about not going 'cap in hand to the frogs' and asking to change Eric Liddle's heat from Sunday. The committee wouldn't do it.

Don't give in to those frogs!

I had not thought of that. Vinegar seems to be the answer to many problems. I will give it a try. Thanks!

In reality I understand it was those supporting the US bid that after you were eliminated switched to support the UK so proving that those who support the US also support the UK and vice versa.

I take it then that the term frogs is not everyday language for the French in the US.

Would you be willing to mail your book to Iraq or Afghanistan after you finish reading it?

I would be honored to mail it to Iraq or Afghanistan, along with any number of other books that I'm finished with. Let me know where, and I'll get some sent immediately.

About every other yr. I go into the hospital
for sleep disorder study. I stop breathing
several dozen times at night (Sleep Apenia)
It takes around 45 mins. to get wired up by tec.
The tec. is there all night monitoring the machines,
there is a camera over the bed. AFter they see what
is going on with your breathing, your limbs, brain, etc
They come into the room set you up with a CPAP and
continue to monitor, they may have to titrate to a
higher pressure.

As a very imprudent "Don't tell ME what to do" kind of person, I'm quite sure I'd have rebelled against British tyranny.

Interestingly, son who is more conservative than I, and very astute politically, doesn't think he would have agreed with the Revolution, and would have been sent packing back to England.

It's a moot point, however, since he would have been in Sweden if he had been alive at the time (at least MY half of him ;)

Fun isn't it! I enjoyed every on the hour newsbreak today when I got to listen to Hillary explain away her inability to make it happen. It was soooo funny.

I'm doing great. Relaxing a bit after a very hectic spring and early summer (went up to Lake Erie on Sunday to the beach and just bummed around for the afternoon......great stuff!).

How have you been?

It sound awful I feel for you and others who suffer this way as being deprived of sleep must affect you so badly as the body needs this as part of its refreshing and renewing process

With the sleep apena I also have a form of narcolepsy.
It made working for years along with my Central Auditory
Processing Disorder loads of fun.

Here is a British perspective on it. IMHO it is very difficult for one living in the world of 2005 to both try to put yourself into the mind set of 1776 as aspirations and freedom meaning was very different to what is meant today. I think this is also true from country to country today and again your President appreciates this very well with his statements regarding Iraq and Afghanistan etc emphasing what is considered to democracy and how your Constitution works is not necessarily what would work for every country in the world.

Hmmm...the beach. That sounds good.

Good, thanks. Trying to get the house painted and all my "I'll do it this summer" projects done. Oh, and keep the kids from getting stir crazy. Two weeks after school is out, they are usually ready to go back. I don't know if that is a good thing or not!

Taler de Danske, Radiohead?

Hej, Tommix2. Ja, jeg tale en lille Dansk.

I haven't been to Denmark yet. The research method I use comes from participatory design, which is popular in Scandinavia. Aren't you an engineer? I do work that comes out of Cognitive Systems Engineering (see:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systems_engineering#Cognitive_Systems_Engineering), but is applied to information technology.

Anyway, I work with a Dane and a Norwegian and collaborate with a research center in Denmark. My Norwegian friend speaks fluent Danish and practises with me. I use the Rosetta Stone language program and try reading the online Danish newspapers, which helps. My friend shows me stories in Aftenposten a lot, which gets me reading in Norwegian as well, since they are so similar. Right now, I read it better than I speak it.

I hope to go to Denmark and Norway after my friend and I finish our degrees. It's strange what happens to you in life. I would never have thought this whole new world would be opening up to me at 51.
