It looks like frosty relations with the not so great white north will continue for quite some time. Canadas new ambassador to the United States has identified Fox News as public enemy #1. Frank Mckenna, the failed premier of a small province most noted for collecting unemployment benefits between seal clubbing seasons, is peeved at what he calls the Fox factor.
The ambassador claims Fox spreads lies and disinformation about his homeland and his plan is to mail out anti-Fox news letters to the more than one million Canadians living in Florida, Arizona and other warm weather states and urge them to counter the Fox falsehoods.
If he thinks a glossy mail-out is the answer to the deteriorating relationship between the two neighbors, its likely the ambassador has been getting into some of that soon-to be-decriminalized marijuana that has become Canadas number one export.
Hes particularly steamed at Bill OReilly for noting that Canada is not doing its part in the war on terror (it isnt) and is a haven for terrorists (there are fifty such cells in operation according to the RCMP). This, coming from a member of the government that turned its back on its long time ally regarding Iraq and then cried and stomped its feet like a four year old when informed that only those supporting the war effort could get in on the rebuilding contracts.
The relationship has actually been in the toilet since the 1960s when then Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau, sought to sever ties with Britain and the U.S. and move closer to the Soviet Union. Trudeau, who clearly hated all things American and was best friends with Fidel Castro, made anti-Americanism a cherished Canadian value. Not that theres a lot of them.
-snip-
"Trudeau defenders please read."
The only trudeau defenders you hear from other than the socialists are the Red Tories.
Trudeau may not have been a huge fan of the USSR, but during world war two he drove around hi town in Quebec on a motorcycle wearing a German army helmet.
Oh yes, and he also avoided the draft in WW2. America, please invade us now.
CORRECTION:
I think the ring was worth $50,000, not $5,000.
Also I think Svend Robinson is the author of Bill 38, the gay marriage legislation just passed in Canada.
Well of COURSE Fox lies about Canada - the truth would be too boring for words!
Don't you know the liberals' idea of "peace" brings war? You should know this by now. That's the problem. And that was Trudeau.
Wasn't this the guy who started the socialist health care in Canada.
So Canada "has relations" with Cuba, huh?
I have a question:
Is Canada or Cuba the "passive" one when the two of them "have relations"?
OK, another question:
What in the world do the children look like?
Red Tories are still better than socialists and Libranos. As least they're half-right. ;)
He was also an associate of Adrien Arcand, the Quebecois Nazi.
He may be, but I think he left before it was authored, even put on the table. Which makes it doubtful. Still, I'd be interested to know if he did write it. Another reason to resent the bill even more.
The Commies were huge Hitler fans in the beginning, In fact they vocally opposed to any American involvement in the war as long as Hitler and Stalin were carving up Poland like a Christmas Turkey, but as soon as Hitler turned on his pal Stalin, the American left began screeming for America to attack the Nazi's.
"Wasn't this the guy who started the socialist health care in Canada."
The father of medicare, but even he didn't envision the old baby blanket it's become. They don't like to mention the fact that he was leader of the Community Party of Canada.
I'll donate, just don't scare me with that pictue anymore. I mean I'm a huge fan of those "living dead" movies, but that's going too far.
A few more ...
- Providing assistance to stranded air travellers during 9/11
- Providing assistance to New England after ice storms
- Providing assistance to southern states (Florida, Louisiana, etc.) after hurricanes
- Ever hear of the Bricklin? It wasn't a success by any means, but it's now a collector's item
Canadians have been smoking great Cuban cigars going back to the pre-Vietnam era. Cuba aligned itself with the Soviets in the early '60's and the U.S., in spite of Berlin Wall falling well over 20 years ago, still have a major hard on for Fidel's Cuba. Little matter that in recent weeks the U.S. has re-established relations with North Vietnam ... a nation that engaged the U.S. in a war that lasted 10 years and killed over 53 thousand Americans ... and still hate and ignore Castro's Cuba ... who never declared war on the U.S., and have killed maybe 10 Americans in the same time period. Go figure ...
"Against All Hope" is a great book.
All excellent points. Canadians are fine, but the MSM and the Liberals are killing us with their anti-US policy. I pray our US friends will consider some of the "common folk" good despite the higher up idiocy.
I wonder how many bodies there are on the bottom of the Florida Straits.
I guess we will never know.
Cuban cigars are highly over rated.
