House Democrats said Tuesday that they would run newspaper advertisements this week criticizing the ethics of six House Republicans, including Representative Randy Cunningham of California, who is under investigation by a grand jury looking into his ties with a military contractor....
Mr. Wade paid $1,675,000 for the house and sold it nearly a year later for $975,000, for a loss of $700,000 in one of the hottest housing markets.
Mr. Cunningham said he "showed poor judgment" in selling his house to a friend who did business with the government. Moreover, he said, "I showed poor judgment in not listing the house publicly for sale." But, he said, "I have acted honestly."
The congressman said he began living on the yacht, which belongs to Mr. Wade, in April 2004 and had paid $13,000 for dock fees, service and maintenance work on it.
"There was nothing improper about my arrangement with Mr. Wade, because I paid these monthly fees and costs in lieu of rent," Mr. Cunningham said.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic National Committee have bought advertisements about the ethics of Mr. Cunningham; Representative Tom DeLay of Texas, the House majority leader; and Representatives Bob Ney of Ohio, Richard W. Pombo of California, Rob Simmons of Connecticut and Charles H. Taylor of North Carolina.
Democrats said ethics was a potentially powerful issue as they devised a strategy to win seats in the House, where Republicans outnumber Democrats, 231 to 202, with one independent and one vacancy.
The advertisements are to run on Wednesday in newspapers in the six congressmen's districts, at a total cost of $36,000. The message of the advertisement in The North County Times, in Escondido, Calif., is typical. "What's happened to Duke Cunningham?" it asks, referring to the congressman by his nickname....

Now, that is the pots calling the kettle black.
I wonder how many of these ethics indictments are just sham indictments from democrat lawyers in the various prosecutor's offices.
Mr. Cunningham said he "showed poor judgment" in selling his house to a friend who did business with the government.
Who's the buyer? Who's the seller?
What goes around comes around...
I doubt any of this sticks. The ethics game is not something that the 'rats can sustain without getting themselves burned.
This is really what having a 2nd party is good for. Both parties are full of crooks. If one party uncovers crooks in the other. Great. It only means that reciprocation is coming. And... maybe, just maybe a few crooks go from congress to jail, where they belong.
"Democrats said ethics was a potentially powerful issue as they devised a strategy to win seats in the House, where Republicans outnumber Democrats, 231 to 202, with one independent and one vacancy."
Yawn.
Funny how that happens with our F&B media reporting.
Okay....let's pool our money and fight (something the GOP has trouble doing).
First ad--Teddy and MaryJo. Time line. 30 minute air pocket. How the beached whale swam the channel because he was in "shock." Let's educate those who do not remember firsthand that fateful week so many years ago.
(BTW, I seem to remember a cheating incident when he was at UVa.)
Biden--plagarism.
Barney Frank - male pimp in the basement.
We should start a thread with a list of factual incidents easliy documented.
With each shot fired, we will fire back, with both barrels. The leadership will not do it, they don't like the hatred in DC. Well, I do not like it either. I hate it. But I'll be damned if I will take it and take it and take it.
I'd rather go down swinging than hiding in the cloak room.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) filed delinquent reports Friday for three trips she accepted from outside sponsors that were worth $8,580 and occurred as long as seven years ago, according to copies of the documents.
The filing is among hundreds of revisions from members of both parties who have amended missing or incomplete reports as scrutiny of lawmaker travel has intensified.
The most expensive trip was not reported on Pelosi's annual financial disclosure statement or on the travel disclosure form that is required within 30 days of a trip.
Looks little the Turbin ads worked. the Dums are trying the old tired tactics of the last 30 years. They seem to forget that the American people paint ALL of the Congress critters with the same brush. Will they yell foul when Nacy pukelosi gets her own little add.
Rush sent the fur flying yesterday on this Pelosi thing - and I bet again today. Every bit helps.
Democrats would not recognize "ethics" if it bit them in the butt.
When will they run the ad accusing Cunningham of drinking, driving off a bridge, killing a girl, running away, and paying off the family? That will be a good ad.
I see this is the end-result of the Democrats soul seraching for how to win the 'values' debate.
Once again, and oh so typical, they win the 'values' debate by attempting to smear and tear down others for a lack of 'values' in an attempt to make themselves look 'better by default'
