"I am confident that President Bush will name a replacement for Justice O'Connor who has the same judicial philosophy as Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas" ~Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council
Washington, D.C. - Family Research Council thanks Justice O'Connor, the first woman on the United States Supreme Court, for her nearly twenty-four years of public service.
"The Family Research Council often found itself on the opposite side of her most controversial decisions," said Tony Perkins, president of Family Research Council.
"This past week Justice O'Connor sided with judicial activists and ruled against the display of the Ten Commandments on public property in two cases before the high court that have offended the values of a great segment of the American public.
"I am confident that President Bush will name a replacement for Justice O'Connor who has the same judicial philosophy as Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, as he indicated he would in his reelection campaign.
"The public is primed for the fight it will take to confirm a nominee. FRC can motivate significant grassroots support for the President's nominees. We will wage an unprecedented effort for a fair and prompt up or down vote through the mobilization of 20,000 churches across the nation, weekly conference calls in targeted states, the strengthening of the FRC team and activation of grassroots through www.frc.org"

I am not sure this is the best political tactic.
EXCELLENT!! The religious right really doesn't get too involved in politics. Last poll I saw had only about 30% of Christians voting. The 2004 election drew out thousands, and with a little more pushing, that number can be doubled.
They're great people to have on our side, because they work for a higher power.
Good riddance...
Congressman Billybob
I agree. The Ten Commandments are offensive only to the very few. Most people, even if they don't like or understand the first Commandment, think they make a lot of sense ( don't kill, don't cheat on your spouse, don't commit perjury, obey your parents, etc.). If people read them and followed them (even a few of them!) imagine what a great place America could be.
All Bush wants is a Strict Constitutionist! One who will applies the Constitutional Laws to every case and judge it on that basis. One who will keep his personal views out of it!
Apparently that is too much for the liberals and it is giving them brain farts all over the place!
It does say the right to life. It doesn't say "The right to kill the innocent as long as they are a burden to you."
I don't know where they found the "right" to "dismember infants while still alive" in the founders documents at all!
