BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill is getting a $2,150 raise this fiscal year as a faculty committee reviews allegations against him including plagiarism.
Churchill denies the allegations.
Churchill was earning more than $114,000 a year until January, when he stepped down as chairman of the ethnic studies department following criticism for comparing World Trade Center victims to a Nazi.
Then he earned a teaching salary of about $94,000. For the fiscal year that began Friday, Churchill will earn about $96,000 for a 2.3 percent increase.
On average, faculty members on the Boulder campus are getting 3.5 percent raises.
And tuition is UP by how much?
Friggin' outraged bump!
And alumni donations are down by how much?
I wonder how many of the "little Eichmanns" who died on 9/11 made that much. FDNY and NYPD sure don't.
Good grief...this is an outrage!
This is tacit approval of his behavior.
That said, it doesn't matter to me much-- there are hundreds of Ward Churchills on every college campus. There needs to be a systemic purge of these commies, who are so entrenched in our educational system.
We need another dozen McCarthys to save this nation.
His former salary is about on par with the Deputy Commissioners of the Pennsylvania State Police. Totally wrong.
i didn't hear that. is enrollment down? because of churchill?
ha ha
"Then he earned a teaching salary of about $94,000."
So NOW, in this case, rich people EARN their salaries. That's an interesting deviation from the media's usual line that rich people don't earn their money, it just appears at their doorstep one day.
In fact the media has it exactly backwards. State employed professors don't EARN money... they GET money.
"there are hundreds of Ward Churchills on every college campus"
Absolutely. If something is really going to be done to rectify this situation their needs to be some guidelines for political neutrality for a university to get state money. There should also be a requirement that curriculum not be subversive in nature.
Probably a significant number of the people murdered at the WTC made as much or more than Ward the dork. Remember, NYC is a financial hub for the entire world, and the WTC was the home of numerous companies in that sector.
Having said that, the mailroom guys and so forth certainly didn't make hear Ward the dork. Some of them died too.
FDNY salary after 5 years: $54K to $61K.
NYPD salary after 5 years: $44K to $70K.
A better question is, Is Ward Churchill worth it? (hint: no). And how do people like him in academia get paid so damn well? Especially liberal slobs who spout opinions with no basis in fact as truth?
Excuse my descent into rant, I kinda lost it...
The American education racket in its entirety is an outrage.
I could see paying a math professor that kind of money, but I can't see how any sociology professor is worth 100k. Family practice doctors and engineers don't make that kind money.
I went to a Big 10 college for my BS (no jokes...). I *had* to take a ration of sociology, psych, etc. It was an open secret that part of the deal was to keep them in work, so us finance, engineering, etc. types who would get productive jobs paid our dues in humanities classes like good kiddies. Some were actually interesting, many were liberal slop.
My point: One of my Soc instructors (Phd) was bemoaning his low (hi 20s) salary. This was back in about '75. I've always wondered, WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED? Was he lying? Or how did they get such gargantuan salaries all the sudden?
True, but they don't usually do mind-altering, radical surgery on student's minds, either. Churchill does.
Makes you wonder what college would cost if they weeded out all the worthless liberals.
this is so disgusting!
it should be required of all liberals, marxists, socialists, anarchists, progressives ... tenured at universities
that they work for a month doing the work of hod carriers, dairy farmers, street maintenance, animal slaughterhouses, ....
More or less.
