I could see paying a math professor that kind of money, but I can't see how any sociology professor is worth 100k. Family practice doctors and engineers don't make that kind money.
I went to a Big 10 college for my BS (no jokes...). I *had* to take a ration of sociology, psych, etc. It was an open secret that part of the deal was to keep them in work, so us finance, engineering, etc. types who would get productive jobs paid our dues in humanities classes like good kiddies. Some were actually interesting, many were liberal slop.
My point: One of my Soc instructors (Phd) was bemoaning his low (hi 20s) salary. This was back in about '75. I've always wondered, WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED? Was he lying? Or how did they get such gargantuan salaries all the sudden?
True, but they don't usually do mind-altering, radical surgery on student's minds, either. Churchill does.
