The 51-year-old Luttig is considered a solid conservative choice. The Texas native worked in the Justice Department during the first Bush administration and has served on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va. Luttig helped take down Anita Hill. Luttig a potential pick for Supreme Court. Profile of Michael J. Luttig. Appeals Court Judge Rising Star Among Conservatives. Another Profile of Michael J. Luttig. The self-described legal nerd wrote the 1999 4th Circuit decision that struck down a key provision of 1994 Violence Against Women Act. He is the son of John Luttig, the Texas man who was shot to death by Napoleon Beazley during a carjacking in 1994. When the case reached the Supreme Court, Luttig's ties to the nation's highest bench caused three of the sitting justices to recuse themselves. |

PING!!!
I just think this guy would be a great choice.
I didn't think about hurting his chances by being eager.
He's been on the list for a while. They already know we're interested in him.
Recently a commentator on Fox said that Luttig would be "A liberals worst nightmare"
I guess John Wiener-- er... Warner won't approve.
He helped bring down Anita Hill? You know the fully segregated, step-n-fetchit, colored only Congressional Black Caucus will oppose him for that reason, alone. And, if the CBC opposes him, the Senate dems will weigh their words heavily. On the other hand, the Senate dems may ignore the vlacks as they always do, knowing they'll get 90+% of the black vote no matter what.
Well the headline says he "played a role in destroying her credibility"
Hill is apparently a hero in liberal land.
I'm too young to know specific details, lol.
bttt
President Bush has nominated outstanding judges so far hundreds of times. He's not going to screw this one up.
If it's Luttig, fine. If it's someone else, I'm confident I'll be fine with that choice, too. He's good at picking judges.
Luttig would be a wonderful choice, as soon as Rehnquist retires. Brown needs to step up first. Just to get the nuclear option detonated. She is the easiest way to stop the dems. filibustering once and for all. Once that is settled, it's on with Luttig. He sounds like a great conservative!
I like Janice Rogers Brown!
I think she would be an excelllent choice. There are several of them available.
Huh?
Rush and F. Lee Levin likes her so that is good enough for me!
+ it would drive ALL liberals absoulutly NUTS!
Any negative/controversial press on him? Would he have a chance of getting through?
A non-ideolgoue, pragmatic conservative will make the cut. A far right, ideologically driven darling of the religious extremists will go down in flames; and properly so.
lawyer.?. huh..
Good job. Thanks for the ping.
No Problem!
Thanks for the bump!
Or longer, with new advances in Medicine, we would be able to live all the way to 120 years (barring freak accidents)
That scares the crap out of me!
Imagine having some 120 year old Senator!
Like fat Ted!
Love your tagline.
I know of at least two or three. :)
