Note how it gets lost in all this who the CIA agent was: Valerie Plame, Joseph Wilson's wife. She arranged for him to be chosen by the CIA, to be sent to Africa, to "investigate" reports of Saddam seeking uranium. Then Joe Wilson came back, after having tea with some high level officials and used his non-investigation to bash the Bush administration.

Why isn't someone investigating Valerie Plame for using her CIA position for political motives?

Also, I remember Novak saying at the time, that it was common knowledge in Washington, that Joseph WIlson's wife was a CIA agent. The news part was that it was because of her request and influence that her husband was picked to be the person sent.

Also -- why aren't we having investigations of the Dems who leaked major security info many times, which put our undercover agents IN country into danger and even have gotten them killed.(not like Valerie Plame, being safely in the US)

With everything that's going on in the World, all this guy is interested in is "getting" Karl Rove. A demonstration of where his mind is at. Derangement among Democrats.

didn't want to say it at a time that would risk me getting dragged into the grand jury.

Has anyone ever seen somebody "dragged" into a grand jury? Pet peeve of mine.

I saw a reporter on TV discussing an early review of Plames upcoming book. It was just it's first draft. She said it discussed his wife's involvement in the CIA. Then the "book news" went silent. The book was delayed.
In my opinion, her husband outed her in the first writing and preview of his book. I can remember it as clear as day. It was either in the introduction or the first chapter. He was praising her.
I knew she was CIA long before a big deal was made out of it.
It had to be either FOX or MSNBC. The reporter was standing in front of the Capital building when giving her report.

considering cooper's story came out after novak's at best this would Rove commenting on novak's story, not the original source.

What is the proof? That O'Donnell says so? That Cooper says so? That Cooper has notes that say so. I have notes that say it was Sandy Berger and that is more believable.

Just some more crap from the Dems. If Rove was actually guilty of this they would have been on it sooner than this. This is payback for the anti-liberal statements he made last week. The dems are so easy to see through if you only look. The DS memos were supposed to show Bush and Blair plotted the war together but they don't show that. I would think this will be a similar case of unsupported accusations. After all Dems don't need proof, they just need the guts to accuse.

For security reasons no one in any White House administration knows identities of covert operatives within the CIA. The only information given by the CIA to the President is generic information using agent numbers. The White House may know some names of employees within the CIA but not job description if under cover. The reason for this is that if any one in the administration is kidnapped or taken hostage national security can't be compromised.
Rove probably knew Plames name but would have had no idea she was an operative. I think the judge and GJ have probably determined that no crime was committed except by Cooper and Miller for defying his order and wasting the GJ's time by making them guess at names when it could have been cleared up rather quickly. Novak is off the hot seat because he testified already and gave up the whole story.

No crime from anyone was committed by giving her name. The Grand Jury has to determine that the individual(s) knew Plame was an undercover operative and leaked it on purpose. I personally think the GJ is beyond that because they haven't reinterviewed any administration official to clarify any issues or get someone on perjury. Novak had probably already testified to who it was and the judge is testing Miller and Cooper to see who he has to send to jail for defying his order.

Spy Games by Clifford D. May

September 29, 2003

http://www.nationalreview.com/may/may200309291022.asp

On July 11, I wrote a piece for NRO arguing that Mr. Wilson had no basis for that conclusion — and that his political leanings and associations (not disclosed by the Times and others journalists interviewing him) cast serious doubt on his objectivity.

On July 14, Robert Novak wrote a column in the Post and other newspapers naming Mr. Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, as a CIA operative.

That wasn't news to me. I had been told that — but not by anyone working in the White House. Rather, I learned it from someone who formerly worked in the government and he mentioned it in an offhand manner, leading me to infer it was something that insiders were well aware of.
