Well...we are 37 minutes into the supposed "global concert of a lifetime" and MTV has managed to show 12 minutes of commercials for reality programming, interrupted 3 performances, and have shown a highlights package from the UK with the biggest names of the day already performing.
Yep. MTV has found a way to not show music on a day where music is all around them. So away with the Live 8 thread....

Holy sh!t!!! Is that really Anna Nicole Smith? She lost all that weight?

I thought the money I donated in 1985 at Live Aid was supposed to stop that from happening? Will this time be different?
When's the star-studded gala for the troops and their families?
Wonder how the tsunami aid has been distributed? ;)

Jay-Z just went politcal by saying we spend millions to kill people.
I'm so inspired by his lyrics just a minute ago talking about whoring women out, pimping them, screwing them, then leaving them. /sarcasm

MTV anchors pushing the "United States spends billions to kill people" line now. I hate this BS.
Only reason I'm watching this is to see Pink Floyd reunite.

Calling on those countries to increase aid. That is kinda what I thought, but they keep saying we dont want your money, just your voice.

Although I could walk up to it, I have a distaste for crowds in general and idiotic, uninformed, under-brained liberals in particular, so I've just been taking this in on T.V.
Listening to the liberals babble on about "what need to be done" in Africa gives life to the truism that liberals are both stupid and evil.
"We spend billions on killing, let's spend billions on saving Africa!" Well, what are you accomplishing today? You've raised NO money just "awareness". None of the previous Live AIDS has done anything to help Africa.
What kind of a person needs a Def Leppard concert to realize that something's amiss in Africa? What kind of person would feel comfortable drawing the conclusion that this is somehow America's fault? What kind of person would believe this public masturbation will improve anything?
Hey liberals- the problem in Africa is the despotic leaders and the ingrained tribalism, not "The G 8" (who most of the audience couldn't name the members of anyway). You can raise all the money and "consciousness" you want, you're not going to change a damn thing.
And how's about picking up your litter on the way out?

we dont want your money, just your voice"Just your voice" to pressure your leaders to cough up some cash.
Liberals can't seem to grasp that the government has no money apart from grabbing ours.

"Nothing says 'serious awareness raising charity function' like Anna Nicole Smith braless in a blouse composed of pink sequins."
I guess she is showing her compassion by offering those udders to all those little starving African babies?

I have a distaste for crowds in general and idiotic, uninformed, under-brained liberals in particular, You would not have been happy, although the leftist stuff was no where near as much as I expected.
A Scientologist gave me something which I promplty threw out. I saw a LaRouchie display. There were a few Christians distributing pamphlets and a church had a booth.
There was some Bush bashing and I did meet a full-blown communist who gave me his newspaper. He seemed like a nice enough guy -- pretty callow & not that bright, though. He was polite. I didn't argue with anybody.
Again I was only there from between noon and 1:30.

Oldies band :-)
