Well...we are 37 minutes into the supposed "global concert of a lifetime" and MTV has managed to show 12 minutes of commercials for reality programming, interrupted 3 performances, and have shown a highlights package from the UK with the biggest names of the day already performing.
Yep. MTV has found a way to not show music on a day where music is all around them. So away with the Live 8 thread....
hey now....... why are you calling me, my views names..... I wasn't even the one who called Bush an idiot in the first place.. Rediculous.... you doing such things.. while at the same time..... I may think it may think Live8 is a bit of a farce on one level... on another.... I completely concur with it.... if you are not part of the solution ...... you are part of the problem... as my momma would always say....
And she just butchered the 30s classic "For All We Know" (J.Fred Coots/Sam Lewis.) I wish these kids would give a listen to Ella or Frank or someone and learn how to sing.
Well, at least she did try to do a classic, instead of this self-penned crap by the singer-songwriters that comprise albums now so they can cash in on the songwriter mechanical royalties.
"The concert to END poverty" I wonder if it will work?
They're breaking out the snow shovels in Hell right now.
Excellent post.
I ran into one of their albums completely by accident on iTunes. I really like the sound and will probably enjoy listening to most of their music.
yup , primo post[tip of the hat] , about yer tag line, you could easily add Clutch Cargo to those other two,LOL!!
If we redifine "poverty", it just might! Why is this called Live 8 anyway???
Thanks for sharing that. It sounds like Neil Peart is a little more than just one of the greatest rock drummers ever.
I'd rather she leave the classics alone and butcher some "original" puke hip-slop. Maybe someone will get exposed to the original and see what real music is.
Anna Nicole Smith, do tell us your
dieting (druggie) secrets!
I swear she should get in the world record books for person to lose and gain weight inside one decade.
I heard $12,000.
Maybe they should have sung this song. LOL
RUSH
Anthem
Know your place in life is where you want to be,
Don't let them tell you that you owe it all to me.
Keep on looking forward; no use in looking 'round;
Hold your head above the ground and they won't bring you down.
Anthem of the heart and anthem of the mind
A funeral dirge for eyes gone blind
We marvel after those who sought
The wonders of the world, wonders of the world,
Wonders of the world they wrought.
Live for yourself -- there's no one else
More worth living for
Begging hands and bleeding hearts will only cry out for more
Well, I know they've always told you
Selfishness was wrong
Yet it was for me, not you, I came to write this song
Chorus
One of the funniest things was a couple of old, old hippies pushing for repeal of marijuana laws. Twentysomethings (with shorth hair) were coming up up to them and asking to get their pictures taken with them.
G-8
Calling on those countries to increase aid.

LOL LOL reminds me of when I was 17.
Yeah, but I don't think the kids cared about the cause. I think they just wanted to get their pix with a couple of hippies.
And to think I used to like REM all those years ago.
