NEW YORK -- Now that Time Inc. has turned over documents to federal court, presumably revealing who its reporter, Matt Cooper, identified as his source in the Valerie Plame/CIA case, speculation runs rampant on the name of that source, and what might happen to him or her. Tonight, on the syndicated McLaughlin Group political talk show, Lawrence O'Donnell, senior MSNBC political analyst, claimed to know that name--and it is, according to him, top White House mastermind Karl Rove.
Here is the transcript of O'Donnell's remarks:
"What we're going to go to now in the next stage, when Matt Cooper's e-mails, within Time Magazine, are handed over to the grand jury, the ultimate revelation, probably within the week of who his source is.
"And I know I'm going to get pulled into the grand jury for saying this but the source of...for Matt Cooper was Karl Rove, and that will be revealed in this document dump that Time magazine's going to do with the grand jury."
Other panelists then joined in discussing whether, if true, this would suggest a perjury rap for Rove, if he told the grand jury he did not leak to Cooper. ...

Exactly, that's why it took so long.
It's just a distraction...we should be digging up info on certain senators, planning FReeps and emailing to get a jump on the SCOTUS situation.
They are masters of distraction.
I'll wait for verification.
That's funny...I think the opposite.
IIRC, the investigation was started to determine whether or not a crime was committed by the original leaker. However, it apparently was expanded, and some suggest quite broadly, into investigating other leaks. Novak has said that there will be lots of surprises when the story finally comes out, and some of that will be tangential to the original Plame issue.
Throw Rove's name out to smear him, apologize (or not) later.
This creep might as well state on national TV that "Rove is responsible for Natalee's disappearance." Same type of Dem modus operandi.
He knows smears work with some stupid morons like he is.

He's prettier than she is.
I think you all may be missing the point. If Rove were to be in trouble it has nothing to do with the leak. I think it is pretty clear that no crime was committed and this whole investigation was a misguided attempt to molify critics.
The problem is if Rove lied when questioned by investigators, even if he wasn't under oath, if he was deceptive or misleading or evne if he was not fully forthcoming and left something out.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like the Feds can turn almost anything into a crime. If they can't get a conviction on a particular crime; then they will charge you with conspiracy, obstruction of justice, or lying to a federal agent.
I beleive Chuck Colson went to prison for making derogatory reamrks about Daniel Elesburg, who happened to be a defendent in a Federal case at the time.
and will never be impeached, no matter how hard the liberals try
You bet Rove is always ahead .... wouldn't be one bit surprised if this report was leaked by Rove ... when Cooper's notes are published for all to see .... someone in the rat party like O'Donnell will look like one fool ... from that point onward NO ONE will believe anything whatsoever O'Donnell reports. ;o) Now that sounds like Rove to me. No one knows how to play it better than Karl.
No, he wasn't a source before the Novak column at all. Only after.
Nobody's missing the point. Rove wasn't the source and he most certainly didn't lie to anyone in the investigation, whether under oath or not.
But why don't you explain to us how you imagine Rove was misleading or untruthful.

Lawrence O'Donnell, senior MSNBC political analyst, claimed to know that name--and it is, according to him, top White House mastermind Karl Rove.
Um the same Lawrence O'Donnell that screamed "Creepy Liar" at the Swift Vote vet founder when he was on an MSNBC show. And the Same deranged lunatic O'Donell that told this same PBS "News" show that after Bush's reelection that there was a real possiblity of the Blue States spliting off from the United States and joining Canada?
Finally, does anyone remember that O'Donell's ONLY qualification as a "political analysis" is as a script writer for the far left TV show "West Wing"?
Dream on loony tunes Left. Dream on.....

O'Donnell hasn't seen the Cooper documents. I would put this in the "Intentional Lie" column.
Wow, that's really some insightful political analysis and cutting edge commentary from O'Donnell. After watching that clip, it beyond me how he can actually be paid to spout such hatred and drivel. The man has no shame.
ODONNELL IS A CREEPY LIAR!

"Wilson at one point suggested that senior Bush adviser Karl Rove could have been behind the leak, which the White House denied. He backed off that assertion somewhat Monday, accusing Rove of at least condoning it."
Even JOE WILSON admitted it wasn't Rove - in 2003!
