SCOTUS: Left begins character assassination campaign

PFA: WE TOLD YOU SO!

Predictable Left Begins Judicial Character Assassination Campaign;

Day 1 Brings Step 1 of Tar & Feather 10-Step Plan

Within just one hour of the announcement of a Supreme Court vacancy, liberal groups were whipping their members into a frenzy as PFA predicted in Tar & Feather, Inc.: A Liberal 10-Step Plan for Judicial Character Assassination. For the Left, it seems the sky is falling:

Planned Parenthood screamed that “Women’s Health and Safety [are] on the Line.”

People For The American Way breathlessly claimed “our very national identity hangs in the balance and progressives must be loud and clear.”

The Alliance For Justice echoed that sentiment, stating “Individual rights and freedoms hang in the balance.”

NARAL: “Unless we act quickly and forcefully, it will be filled by a right-wing extremist bent on ending a woman’s right to choose.”

MoveOn.org predicts a nominee who’s an “extremist who will undermine the rights of individuals and families.”

National Abortion Federation warned that women would have to “sacrifice their lives and health by having back alley abortions in order to end an unwanted pregnancy.” They have even demanded “a candidate who will win a consensus of at least 60 votes in the Senate.”

Liberals recently launched baseless attacks against highly respected judges who eventually received bipartisan support for lifetime appointments to appellate courts.

Judge Priscilla Owen was criticized by liberal leaders for having an “extreme judicial philosophy” but she received 81 votes (26 Democrats) for cloture & 56 votes for confirmation. Judge Janice Brown was called “unfit to serve” by liberal leaders but she received 65 (10 Democrats) votes for cloture & 56 votes for confirmation.

“We told you so,” said Brian McCabe, PFA’s president. “We’ve read the Left’s playbook. Liberals are masters at talking out of both sides of their mouths – while they pretend to want a nominee who will bring the country together, their rhetoric serves no other purpose than ripping people apart.”

Progress for America, Inc. (“PFA”) is a national grassroots organization dedicated to supporting a conservative issue agenda that will benefit all Americans. PFA is the leading conservative group working on the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy and for an up or down vote on the president’s judicial nominees. PFA has pledged an initial $18 million to combat dishonest attacks on any U.S. Supreme Court nominee.

Get ready for the last-minute over-the-transom accusations as happened with Thomas. It will be something outrageous and one person's word against the nominee. Just wait and see.

I am probably dead wrong, but...Kay Bailey Hutchinson?

Nope. Too old, for one thing.

Janice Rogers Brown. Side benefit: Teddy Kennedy would have a stroke.

I believe if they do that, it could turn out to be the democrat party's dying breath. I mean, the timing couldn't be better... Souter and the other black-robed thieves make a decision 99% of the country is against. And the dims are going to stand there squealing like stuck pigs, promising to obstruct until they get their way, and O'Connor gets replaced with another Souter-like judge on the Court? IMHO, the dims are misunderestimating the "little" people again.

Bush should nominate Hillary for the court. The republican majority could smear her into infinity then reject her.

The Alliance For Justice echoed that sentiment, stating “Individual rights and freedoms hang in the balance.”

Their knowledge of Current Events is lacking.

... and we told you so as well. We "conservatives" are being pushed aside by the GOP which is seeking a more "moderate" face. Te GOP is sacrificing the Religious Conservatives, people of conscience and the efforts they made to elect GWB. What am I taking about? The replacement for O'Connor - pro abortionist GONZALEZ is the prime candidate to replace her. The GOP gets to appeal to the pro abortion and Hispanic element. In essence they want to build a "party of the future" by abandoning those that elected GWB and a GOP Congress. If Gonzo is nominated, my WWW sites go anti-GOP!

sure, just like they did when they gave Ruth Bader Ginsburg 96 votes in the Senate. our senators have very little spine.

I agree, but you just know what will happen if Bush nominates a strong conservative. The dems will filibuster him/her for the next 10 years claiming the "Extraordinary circumstances" clause in the recent deal to end filabusters. Just you wait...

At first I thought this was a good idea.

But on further thought, with people like Graham and McCain applauding her and Sanatorum and Frist co-sponsoring legislation with her, she might actually be confirmed by this Senate!

Considering Ginsburg was a fromer ACLU lawyer, I have no idea how she got such an easy ride. Very pathetic, especially after Bork and Thomas.
