Thanks for the pings. Awesome choice. I'm excited about this nomination. Pres. Bush looked so proud...deservedly so. The MSM networks went back to regular programming almost immediately. First wave of PBS coverage was favorable. Confirmable!

John Roberts is an excellent choice. He'll be a distant cry from O'Connor. When the DemOdogs start barking about how great she was, just doesn't speak very well for her. They call her a "swing vote." If I were her, I wouldn't want to go down in history as being a swing voter for the RATS.
I had to laugh at Chuckie Cheese. He put his shark fins on, threw blood into the water, then dove in. What an absolute imbecile.

No, I'm not surprised, the Massachusetts Manatee is a consumate politician. Include him in on the hoodwinking of Bush 41.He didn't hoodwink Bush 41, he really didn't know.
Its not exactly a secret, that Kennedy is not someone to trust.
I'm not sure if it was Gephardt or not, but there was a democratic congressman who had met and known Souter when he was younger turned around and tried to convince other liberals not to shoot him down.
No president, liberal, or conservative, republican or democrat, would ever try to get Kennedy on into a scheme. He is more likely then not to screw it up.
Besides, Kennedy could have villanized Souter and still not almost botched it, by not voting against him or softball villanizing him, instead he went knee jerk with a bork like speech, no dem even thinks he reviews judicial candidates, he just kind of supports or opposes them based on who nominates them.
I'd love to see Thomas get a 2nd chance to meet with Kennedy, if those stories are even half true, I'm surprised Thomas didn't turn and smack him on the spot. I do know Souter turned beat red when some democrats talked to him.

So from what I gathered of the cable news yappers we don't know all that much except he's considered a 'great conservative thinker'. Is he another Souter??
He's not a woman so that's a strike against him. I don't like his eyes or his phony comb-over but he seemed a fairly smooth talker.

Good choice...He has to get by the DemOsharks. But, he will prevail. And, he won't be a swing vote!

Your thread just made the rounds all across Michigan. I just got it emailed to be by our state GOP.

I think Roberts will be great and the exteme libs will be faoming away. LOVE to see that!
At the news brief it looked like Bush might break out with a really huge grin or start laughing. I think he and Roberts shared a joke before talking to the press. But, I also imagined Bush thinking "Take that liberal Senators! Let's see how you look Borking this guy". A very highly qualified pick!

I was wrong in my prediction. And yes, I am glad I am wrong. President Bush has laid down a marker that he IS going to appoint Justices who will read the Constitution and obey the Constitution.
We know that the leftist-Soros-funded-Democrats will howl and threaten. But I don't think they will be able to mount a filibuster. And if they do, I think Bush and Frist between them are ready for the constitutional option to strike down the filibuster.
As the Chinese curse says, "May you live in interesting times." Well constitutionally, that is exactly where we are, beginning at 9 p.m. EST on Tuesday night.

You say that Roberts "sounds like another Souter." You are not paying attention. If you cannot tell the difference between Roberts' background and Souter's you should not be commenting on this subject because your lack of knowledge is too vast for any competent comment.

Thank you for that short, but sweet and informative,
bio on Judge Roberts.
Since I have been unable to be here often lately,
brevity is very welcome.
Thank you! ;o)
