Was Garza involved in the Emerson case??

Yes, and he was on the good side.

the advantage to nominating her now, though, would be that the exact same paper trail that they judged her on before would be what is before them now. nothing new, so it should theoretically be quick. anyone else they will flyspeck to kingdom come.

Again, not true.

two branches of conservatives stayed home.

1) Social conservatives

2) Fiscal conservatives (remember the tax increase?)

Also count that part of the reason Reagan and Bush 41 won was because Democrats crossed aisles. Clinton pretended to be conservative, he was a southerner. They went back home.

All these were the reasons for the loss in '92, and responsibility was not only on the heads of one branch of the conservative base.

Despite my tagline, I'd like to see Justice Janet Rogers Brown nominated.

Just a question...do you also agree with the Partial-Birth Abortion ruling as it stands?

If so, let me know why?

Thanks.

Which do I enjoy more, parodists of conservative beliefs or those who don't recognize these infiltrators for what they are.

A senator? Aren't they kinda shaky? We don't want to remove a conservative sitting senator...we need all we can get right where they are.

I won't believe an AP wire story telling the country, and the world for that matter, that President Bush was caught off guard by this resignation.

In the long term, Bush has known all along he would most likely get two SC picks. In the short term, he's known for several weeks, O'Connor did not rehire her staff for the fall court term.

Every other news source is telling us (ad nausum), both sides have been gearing up for SC resignations. Oh the msm might have been caught off guard it was O'Connor who retired first, and it coming today, but I don't believe for a minute Bush didn't know this was coming.

"and your moral authority is derived from...?"

Man, my sarcasm is not being picked up today. There was a fairly large debate here a couple of weeks about Nugent's revelation that he had an affair. Many here who were glad to have him on our side before were ready to toss him overboard. I supported him as a sinner like all of us.

Drunk Ted just laid the groudwork for the Summer of 1000 battles. He said that (in essence) that if the President nominates a strict construction constutionalist, then they will filibuster.

I've got my popcorn, and I need some root beer, so let the show commence.

I'm not saying Brown is a bad idea, I just can't see it happening. If I'm wrong I'll be delighted.

Michigan Supreme Court. Part of the "block of four" conservatives there which liberals despise.

Strict constitutionalist.

I have the utmost confidence in the voters of the Great State of Alabama to send another fine Senator to Washington to replace Jeff Sessions. That would not be the case if, for example, Rick Santorum was nominated. I would trust neither the voters nor the Governor of that state.
