I have a feeling the President is going to do just fine on this.

That may be indigestion.

the way the Bush's have been buddying up to Bill, I'm afraid he might get the nod

That would be disgustingly ironic. Bill was disbarred from practicing law before the Supreme Court.

I wanna know how some bozo for New York has the ignorance or arrogance to bag on a Californian?

You forgot Willie Horton and Rodney King-- both misunderstood great Americans.

"I will be deliberate and thorough in this process." Followed by a grin...

I give the President plenty of room with decision-making, but on this nomination, I want the petal to the metal, the whole enchilada....I want a true constitutional conservative. Nothing less will do, and I think I'm not standing here alone.

Nope, you aren't. If Gonzales is nominated, I am going to be ticked.

The president is up!

Paying respects to O'Connor...

Speaking of qualities needed to pick a good Justice. Compiling nominees that will faithfully interrupt laws and constitution.

That's what I said. Not a surprise at all. The media is getting more "doofus-like" every day.

Someone who flies under the radar.....that could make sense.

Those type have been corrupted in the past, though. (Wasn't that the method tried with Souter or Kennedy?)

Maybe I am not clear because I see red when the "social" conservatives threaten to abandon the political party that is tryng to run the country. They aren't all that "social conservatives" want but they are the best we have.

And social conservatives stayed home in large numbeers or voted for Perot helping BC get in office.

And "social conservatives' think they are morally superior to us otherwise conservatives who don't want this country to go to hell but don't want a theocracy. They have their views but shout down anyone who doesn't agree.

There is alot of room to disagree on what makes this country strong. Social conservatives don't allow much room if you ask me.

Chastise me for losing the majority - oh well. What have they done for us ANYWAYS?!

The majority is only good if we ACT like a majority. This is a waershed moment for Congress, especially the so called moderates in the senate. Bush will give us a good nominee....it's all in the hands of the squishy mods in the senate.

Scalia who helped rule that anything can be regulated by the federal government under interstate commerce, whether it involves interstate or commerce? Please. Scalia kicked principles aside in cuddle up to Bush in the hopes that he'd get a chief justice nomination.
Originalists or nobody.

LOL. My thought exactly when I typed it. But I'm trying to coin a phrase to contrast with "originalist."

But MAKE THEM FILIBUSTER Janice Brown, after Voting her to the 2nd Circuit as part of a deal in which they all but agreed she was not Extreme.

Well, it was pretty funny. One week she was the most evil hobgoblin ever to wear a black robe, then the following week she was an American Patriot well deserving of a spot on the Second Circuit. For them to switch back to evil hobgoblin is no contortion at all for them. Look at Bolton, they've approved him twice I think, and now he's a "bully".

So two segments of the conservative branches of the party revolted

You are right. I admit to being hyperbolic. :-)
