2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is reportedly consulting with a prominent evangelical minister who's coaching her on how to communicate with Christian fundamentalists, a top clergyman said this week.
"She has engaged the former president of the National Association of Evangelicals, Assemblies of God minister Dr. Don Argue," Rev. Rob Schenck said Thursday.
Schenck is president of the National Clergy Council. Appearing on Bill Bennett's "Morning in America" radio show, Rev. Schenck told fill-in host Steve Malzberg that Rev. Dr. Argue had visited with the Clintons "numerous times in the White House" and is now helping Mrs. Clinton "learn the language of evangelicalism."
"If she could peel off a small percentage of the evangelical vote, she strongly increases her chances of winning in '08," Schenck told Malzberg.
The leading evangelical first detailed the stunning political development on Monday, in an interview on WBT Charlotte, North Carolina's Jason Lewis Show - where Malzberg was also filling in.
The revelation came two days after Schenck walked out of Rev. Billy Graham's New York City revival, where the Clintons appeared onstage. At the event, Graham suggested that Mr. Clinton should start a ministry of his own while letting Mrs. Clinton "run the country."
Under Rev. Argue's tutelage, Schenck said, Mrs. Clinton "has made a number of overtures to evangelical groups and leaders to sit down and meet with them." However she has yet to follow through and arrange an actual meeting, he noted.
wow!
are the clintons running or wha'?
bill's shaking down the bushes
and hillary's going evangelical.
And we have prominent republican politicians falling all over themselves to sponsor legislation with this evil evil woman.
An appropriate name for someone advising Hillary. But she really doesn't need practice in the argument area, witness the reported shouting matches between her and Bill in the White House.
More NewsMax hyped up headlines.
Shrillery isn't "going evangelical", she is trying to look the part but those with discernment will recognize her as a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Hopefully this pastor is constantly delivering the gospel to her and not just aiding and abetting the enemy.
"Dr. Argue?" And who is he assisted by, Dr. Deliberately Obtuse?
The Clintons never cease to amaze. They are, by far, the two biggest pains in the a** American politics has ever produced.
"Evangelical" to her I guess is like rehearsing a one-act play or something. Acting like a Christian without really being saved.
Pathetic.
If you have to be coached on how to talk to a group instead of talking the normal way you do, what does that say about your normal way of talking?
The flip side is that if she's angering God with her false reasons for "using" people, that might not be so smart.
Best we let Him sort this out.
I would have walked out too! Has Billy Graham lost his mind? Bill Clinton with a ministry? Bill and Shrillery both need to first be saved. As it stands now Bill has a ministry as a minister of Satan, and it would be disastrous for that shrew Shrillery to run this country, for surely she would run the country into the pit of hell.
Good thing the "genius", Carl Rove has been coaching fundamentalist favorite, Rudy G.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.
If ever ANYBODY needed religious coaching, it is Hillary.
God will "sort it out", and having said that, God has also given His people certain responsibilities, including identifying and exposing wolves in sheep's clothing and standing opposed to them. The Christian role is not one of passivity, but one of active participation in the fight against evil.
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.
And oh how well that fits the pig in question.
It's all a matter of packaging with the Clintons, isn't it? Just say anything to pull the wool over the stupid sheep's eyes so they don't see your radical pro-abortion, pro-government promotion of homosexual activity, pro-religious litmus test for judiciary agenda.
Who didn't see this coming on Nov 3, 2004?
I expected to see every democrat in Congress running around like madmen from church to church, waving the Bible and reciting the Deuteronomy by heart, but apparently religious fervor is still something one must not be shown exhibiting in public.
The dummies continue to learn the worng lessons from defeat: Al Gore did not lose because he was robbed of his birthright by an idiot, he lost because he failed to get enough votes, then whined about it, and forgot to remeber he was an unattractive candidate (in all senses of the word). John Kerry did not lose because of a last-minute surge of ultra-religious votes: he lost because he was a rotten candidate who was as interesting as stale toast and who put forward no ideas other than relflexive opposition.
Now Hillary, on the other hand, at least is interesting, in a "Law and Order" kinda way. I would dearly love to see Jack McCoy or Ben Stone find a way to put her in jail when it seems impossible. However, if she believes for a second that her showing up with Billy Graham and suddenly having found God will not be seen for the sham that it is, then it's apprent that I have given her way too much credit.
