Gracious God,Bless and comfort the mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, wives and husbands of our military personnel who are separated from their loved ones.
Grant them the courage to face the challenges of daily living while those they love are away.
As unfamiliar tasks are placed before them due to the absence of their loved ones, grant them direction and wisdom.
Encourage their hearts and surround them with peace. In Your name we pray. Amen.

1985! I was a young Rebel back then...Back to the Future came out that year, as did Brazil, Rocky IV, and Rambo: First Blood Part Two.
On TV I remember watching CBS's new version of The Twilight Zone, which wasn't that bad. But Miami Vice was the coolest show on TV.

January-March 1985: TDY to Harare, Zimbabwe. At that time, the very best place in Africa. September-October 1985: TDY to Mbabane, Swaziland. Not a bad trip. October 1985: started Spanish Language School.
I don't do music.

JoyEven In Poverty
Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; . . . yet I will rejoice in the Lord. Habakkuk 3:17-18
|
In the book 450 Stories for Life, Gust Anderson tells about visiting a church in a farming community of eastern Alberta, Canada, where there had been 8 years of drought. The farmers' economic situation looked hopeless. But in spite of their poverty, many of them continued to meet together to worship and praise God. Anderson was especially impressed by the testimony of a farmer who stood up and quoted Habakkuk 3:17-18. With deep feeling, he said, "Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stallsyet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation." Anderson thought, That dear saint has found the secret of real joy! It's not wrong to find pleasure in the good things money can buy, but we should never rely on them for happiness. If our fulfillment depends on material possessions, we are crushed when we lose them. But if our joy is found in the Lord, nothing can disrupt it, not even economic distress. Yes, those who know and trust the Lord can rejoiceeven in poverty! Richard De Haan
Pleasures of earth, so seemingly sweet, Fail at the last my longings to meet: Only in Thee my bliss is complete; Only, blest Lord, in Thee. Anon.
Happiness depends on happenings; joy depends on Jesus!

Bible class was wonderful. We were studying Romans l4 and 15 and learned a lot about how to treat our brothers and sisters in Christ.
I am sure your family will appreciate everything you do. How many are you expecting to come?
What kind of weather are you expecting--cooler all weekend I hope for you. Ours is supposed to be hotter. Ouch! It is still 96*
