LONDON, June 30 (UPI) -- Only 1 percent of overweight women in a British survey said they are happy with their shape, blaming the celebrity culture for their attitude.
Of the 4,000 overweight women questioned by the National Slimming Survey, 83 percent said they suffered from deep "self-loathing". Some 91 percent felt depressed and 79 percent said they felt "utter despair."
Two-thirds of overweight women said they have felt like "life is not worth living," Sky News reported.
The survey also said 74 percent admitted to hiding food in their bedroom, car, garage or garden. About half of respondents removed size labels from clothing.
Among 1,000 men questioned in the same survey, 94 percent said they felt "like second-class citizens."

Exactly! Life is ninety percent attitude. You are somebody. I always give women getting married two bits of advice....
Always stand up straight, because it makes everybody look better and NEVER ask him if you look fat because it's not about him anyway; there is no right way to answer 'cause you're not going believe it one way and your going to be mad the other; and finally, he probably hasn't noticed, so don't go pointing it out!
Early in our marriage my husband gave up and started saying "Do I look stupid?" Pretty much ended that.

Yes it is and this oversexualised society with music videos and advertising doesn't help. A lot of girls 'advertise' their wares anway. I can understand why a guy would look at some hot, young blonde mama in a mini-skirt. I don't like it one bit but that's life. We women will be jealous of other women, younger and better looking for eternity.

I think that question makes a woman seem very insecure and I promised my man I would not do that.

I have heard people loudly point out fat people and laugh. If I heard it, so did they. I can't imagine anything worse than that. Oh, I sure can. Around the "pond I swim in" that would get the jester hurt REAL bad.

Believe what? I'm 47 and was always too shy to date....so that's what I'm talking about. You told me I have alot to learn....I'm asking what that is. You haven't answered that. I'd sincerely like to know.
I've seen too many of my friends lose their cheating husbands to younger woman.

I have a very good friend whose husband totally stopped loving her because she got "fat". I told her how to lose about 180 pounds really quick...divorce him! I'm sure your "very good friend" is represnting the two sides of the story to you very accurately.
When women become unhappy with themselves, they can also get VERY bitchy. So while she blames the weight gain, it may be something else. And he may not have stopped loving her, but may be avoiding her because she is abusive.
So while "divorce him" is hilarious (I guess), it is sadly the solution of first resort all too often for modern american women.

I think this is true. Sometimes I have to catch myself in my personal self abuse realising that there are women who have real problems in life. Also, it is true. Plus sized women are treated like second class citizens but they have to get used to it. That's not going to change anytime soon. Terribly ugly men don't have it too great in society unless they have tons of money to compensate for it.
The looks thing kind of cuts both ways. Men are just fortunate that women are shallow enough to allow money to compensate for it, and are willing to be paid prostit ... I mean wives, yeah WIVES.

IIRC, if the picture that used to be on your 'about page' was of you, then you have no self-abusing to do. You look fine.
Me, on the other hand...

BTW I've lost 22 lbs in the last 2 months
Good for you-- just be careful.
I shed 40lbs in 11 weeks four years ago.
'Course, I ruined my gallbladder in the process, almost died before surgery and have a 9" scar across my stomach, but... on a positive note, I'm still a size 8.

Good. I like that "worse than that."

Good reply. She didn't divorce him, and he continues to avoid her, because she is fat.
But, you are wrong about one thing..she's not a witch. Very sweet lady. Go figure..oh well.

As a heavy woman, I totally agree with you. BUT I think that it's putting the cart before the horse. Those of us that have been depressed usually gain weight because you stop caring about yourself and you feel like food is the only positive thing around. (yeah, it's wrong, but there it is.)
