My green arrow to turn back to the list of news threads knows no retreat. It won't turn back. If you can figure out what I mean...please help.

Sorry, but my arrow is blue. I have a sort of loopy green arrow, but that just reloads the page. I don't think that I can help.
By the way, what's your favorite cheese? I'm partial to a cheese from Oaxaca, Mexico. It peels off in strings just like Armenian string cheese.

Marking my place so I won't have to read all these silly replies again when I come back.Ok, but you'll miss some great FReeper humor.

? Opened a new browser window when you went to the story.
If you can't back out, click the red x and close the window.
You should be back at FR.

I call it a "Back Button." I'm amazed at the number people who claim they don't have one. Data had a button on his back. It turned him off like switching off a light.
My wife and I occasionally poke our daughter's back looking for the off button.
She doesn't have one.

Opened a new browser window when you went to the story. That's my suspicion.

Each rectangle represents a separate viewing window. Click on the rectangle that says Free Republic. *That's* where you want to go "back" to. Also, Right-Click on any rectangle that you want to get rid of, and select "close"; the rectangle (and the window that the rectangle represents) will then be gone.Does that help?
I understood it perfectly the third time I read it. :-)
I'm going to have to use post # 131, suggestion. I'm at my wits end, and for me, a very short journey.

Yeah, I caught that - if you're not spawning new tabs when you click on those links then you're losing the history out of cache. Not sure why that would happen - you haven't installed a new software firewall or "hardened" your computer in some other way, have you? Kind of at a loss here... :-(No I haven't. It just...happened.

Each of those rectangles on your lower task bar represents a separate browser window (or other programs you may have running.)If I try to go on three different threads...there will be six windows opened on the bottom.

I've already tried that more than once. Doesn't help. I'm gonna have to use System Restore, because nothing is solving the problem.

Are you talking abou the little green arrow in upper left hand corner, right under the "File" word? If so, you must be using Firefox as a browser and that is the "Back" arrow.Yes I am.

I just discovered your problem! Because you are in Louisiana your browser operates according to Napoleonic code...:-) I know this because I'm from Louisiana. I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me before.
