My green arrow to turn back to the list of news threads knows no retreat. It won't turn back. If you can figure out what I mean...please help.

Control + alt + delete twice really fast, run to restroom, and upon your return all will be healed. That's about the only thing I haven't tried. That, and fixing it.

Have you tried hitting the little downscroll pointer beside the big green arrow and then selecting the page from the history list that comes up?Are you trying to confuse me more that I already am? Seriously, I tried the page, it's set on Basic page style. It's no help.

Either close your browser and restart it or right-click on the green arrow and choose your destination from the dropdown list, if it appears. Good luck and Godspeed. You know how you can leave a window open on your browser if you leave a thread and go to another, then check back in on your previous thread? I can't do that. The new thread overrides the old one. I can't have two conversations on two threads at the same time anymore.

You might consider downloading the latest Firefox and playing with a browser other than IE. I use both.I am on Firefox. This is the first time I've had a problem with the type of problem I'm having...whatever it's called.

I'm not sure why it does this, something to do with the way the FR software creates the individual article pages.I've never encountered this kind of problem before. I guess the old saying, 'there's always a first time for everything' applies here.
I'll give your suggestion a try. Thanks.

If rebooting doesn't work, you may have to run System Restore. I had to do that just yesterday, because my word processor suddenly started showing all the formatting marks (paragraph symbols, etc.) That function was turned off, but it didn't matter. I tried turning it on, then off a few times. I rebooted. Eventually, I had to run System Restore.

This will sound dumb Yeah well, why stop now? :-)
Where before only one rectangle at the bottom would show...I now have two.
Each rectangle represents a separate viewing window. Click on the rectangle that says Free Republic. *That's* where you want to go "back" to. Also, Right-Click on any rectangle that you want to get rid of, and select "close"; the rectangle (and the window that the rectangle represents) will then be gone.
Does that help?

Yeah, I caught that - if you're not spawning new tabs when you click on those links then you're losing the history out of cache. Not sure why that would happen - you haven't installed a new software firewall or "hardened" your computer in some other way, have you? Kind of at a loss here... :-(

No, I'm not familiar with that. My head would explode if I tried to have two conversations on two separate threads. Try clearing your Cache in the Options section. Your online memory may be full.

I found the preference. MY problem seem to start when I tried to fix another problem. You know that little oblong box on the right side of the screen, where just the title of stories are posted? Something happened, and only a fraction of that box was showing when I was looking at the thread titles. I had to use that little blue arrow on the bottom to make it slid to the left where I could read what was written there.
Is that any help...or just more confusing?

First, check to see if you are online.Check.
Then, see if you are logged on.
Check.
Finally, check to see if your machine is plugged in.
Check.
If not, send me a freepmail and I'll help you out.
Check.
But only if you are not plugged in.
And check.

The new thread overrides the old oneWhen you click on a link, don't use your mouse's left button. Use the right button, then select "Open Link in New Tab" or "Open Link in New Window"--whichever you prefer.
