Here's the crux of the matter; it is far more serious than sending along a bag of dirt:

"Many are already stating that the decision in Kelo renders the contract null and void."

It may be that some are going to end up in the dirt.....a possibility that is by no means satisfying to the sane. The extreme suggests that the Constitution is no longer a valid contract. That could portend a disaster. The less extreme view would suggest that the Court has seriously eroded what little respect for the law still existed prior to the Gang of Five taking it upon themselves to rewrite the Constitution in their own biased image. Over time, this erosion could take us to the same place - anarchy, chaos, and the end of the Republic - to be replaced by?

"In so doing, they have granted special status to the feudal lords of the 21st century, namely major corporations, development companies and local government fiefdoms – reverting our system of property ownership back to the dark ages. Our Constitution is essentially the contract between the people and our government. While the government frequently reneges on this trust, this is perhaps the most egregious case since the birth of our nation. Many are already stating that the decision in Kelo renders the contract null and void."

Wouldn't those prime pieces of property in Malibu, overlooking the beach, make excellent places for hotels? Those movie stars would be forced to move to make way for vacationers.

Wouldn't that just kill the hollyweird elitest?

Any lawyers want to inform us regular bozos about the legality of mailing dirt to elite sob's? I'll happily do it if it's legal.

Judicial tyranny at its worst. The Constitution means nothing to this court. They are rogues hellbent on destroying this country with fraudulent decisions.

In case folks want to encourage the Weare, N.H., selectmen who have the power to take Judge Souter's house by eminent domain so that it can be replaced by a higher-tax-paying hotel, here are the Selectmen's addresses.

The Chair is Laura Buono: lbuono@weare.nh.gov

Vice-Chair is Leon Methot: lmethot@weare.nh.gov

Oh, I don't know. Our government did the exact same thing to the Indians, way back when.

It was only a matter of time before they did the same thing to everyone else.

Didn't the US Govt drive the indians off their lands and onto the reservations?

Guess who's next?

Trail of Tears, anyone?

In the past this kind of judicial abuse has prompted Americans to amend the Constitution.

In coming years, the media will highlight every case of a dispossessed American on the evening news.

The rallying cry will cause Walmart to run out of pitchforks.

Eventually the situation will be remedied and our governments reined in.

Or, thousands of years from now, we will be a future episode on Empire Part II.

Kelo was a big step but it started much earlier.

I personally think the War Between the States was the real beginning. Another one was Teddy Roosevelts progressive movement. I think TR was one of our greatest presidents and greatest men, but he started a lot of government intrusion.

I personally think TR himself would have disapproved of what his square deal programs eventually led to and some reforms were necessary but still that was another step.

FDR was another, but the real giant step was the Warren Court and the civil rights cases. Whatever the merits of the civil rights movement, many of the decisions, effectively granted government control over private businesses.

It just keeps going. Even Reagan didn't really turn it around, only slowed government takeover.
