I don't think I can say anything other than @#$*!!! I am appalled at this ruling. So much for the sanctity of marriage and the witnessing of such an event by our Father in heaven. May he bless those who stuck to their guns and tried to keep this bill from passing.
TRIBULATION!!!!!

Gee..... wouldn't it be grand if the gays in the lower 48 streamed north like draft dodgers in the 60s and early 70s?
**
I like that scenario.

Judicial activism. The homofascists took the cases to the Supreme Court and they ignored the wishes of the majority of the people.

My point is simply that the mostly affluent, well educated and socially well connected former U.S. reds who came up here in the 60's and 70's have done untold harm across the whole spectrum of Canadian society.
As one might expect of socialist cadres, they've weaseled their way into positions of influence within culturally sensitive institutions where they can do the absolute most harm: especially the legal system, our msm and public education at all levels.
Plus, remember that their entirely negative influence is magnified many times over by Canada having less than one tenth of America's population - less people in the whole country than in California alone!
Whenever you hear the most extreme and virulent anti-Americanism imaginable coming from up here, odds are that its source is one of your own ex-pats or someone they've had a hand in 'educating'.
Some U.S. conservatives want to have it both ways:
bitching about whatever bad stuff that goes on up here but, all the while, wanting to foist off still more U.S. social misfits upon us.
IMHO, such attitudes go well beyond being far less than neighborly and are quite plainly hypocritical.

The Dominion of Canada was put down like a diseased animal by an unholy alliance of lefties from the U.S. and U.K., the petit-fascist revanchistes of Quebec, and the anti-American Establishment heirs of the Family Compact in UEL-fetishising Ontario.
To revive our Dominion, we must drive a stake through the heart of the present perverted Trudeaupian regime, and return to the original terms of Confederation, giving all usurped powers back to the provinces, and restoring Parliamentary supremacy over the courts.
Otherwise, the country will crack up within a decade, imho. I live in the once magnificently prosperous B.C., but Alberta is only a morning's drive away. ;^)

What made it worse is that the leftists who streamed North were more than willing to take advantage of the fact that Canadians were open, friendly and willing to give the new arrivals the benefit of the doubt.
Canadians have a reputation as sort of being pushovers. That's not wholly true- Canadians were used to living in a society where people weren't that pushy and only asked the society to accomodate them when absolutely necessary. The draft-dodgers and communists from the US used that to their advantage to change Canadian society around them.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba are both somewhat economically depressed due to their having socialist (NDP) governments. These same gov'ts have passed SSM legislation or a provincial court has enabled SSM.

what's happening in Ottawa is nothing more than a public gong show.
The FED define it BUT it's up to the province to enforce.
The province didn't even bother with the gun registry. One thing different in Canada is that you'll have more provincial vs federal brawl than in the US.

Instead of just the Western part of Canada, l think we should take the whole enchilada. We need the energy reserves and the water I`ll billet whatever troops I can. Small condo in mid-town Toronto, but whatever can help, eh!

Likewise ... and also more than willing to point out subversive types and suspected terror cell members!
... despite well knowing that my arm will likely fall off before I come anywhere near identifying all of them in Toronto: 'the mega-city of evil' - LOL!

Sorry to rejoyce in the thought that our homosexuals would migrate north to take advantage of your (Canada"s) kindness and multiculturism. But wouldn't it be better to have this thing trash one country rather than two? In other words, if Canada wants to pass laws like this maybe they should deal with the consequences. Or just maybe they (led by conservatives like yourself) will come to their senses and realize that no right minded society wants this much multiculturism, (and this is just the start as there are many perversions yet to declare their "born this way" status). I am deeply sorry for Canada, but this is something they are doing to themselves with a great deal of thought. Or maybe because they took in too many of our war protestors in the '60s?

No 'maybe' about it - see my post #66.
To offer an additional analogy and one that reflects the difference in our respective populations: picture the societal impact on America of the sudden arrival of somewhere around one million - not 'wetbacks' but - generally well educated, often economically well off and usually socially well connected left-wing activists.
To illustrate the extent of their penetration into Canadian society, CBC radio's national 'morning man' - broadcast every weekday into even the most remote regions of the country - is an absolutely doctrinaire Marxist named Andy Barrie who also just happens to be a U.S. Army deserter later pardoned by Jimmy Carter

Didn't your country invite them? I seem to remember that in the time you speak of, Canada opened it's arms to any and all draft evaders, war protesters and other misfits of the leftist variety. We, the US, didn't evict or deport them, you rolled out the red carpet and now those actions are coming home to roost.
To: Neville72
As I'm roughly the same age as those in question, I remember this era very well and, accordingly, don't believe you can substantiate that they received any official and/or governmental 'welcome' because there never was one.
Most certainly some on the political left welcomed them but, to claim this constituted anything official or formal, is like saying that those 'welcoming' illegals and other assorted riff-raff into the U.S. today are doing so on your behalf or that of your government.
Bear in mind that our WW2 and Korean War Vets were still both numerous and in their relative prime within this time-frame and you can well imagine what most of them said very loudly and publicly about these traitorous vermin.
