Interestingly, the newly released book by Edward Klein, "The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President," leaves no one on the fence.
Liberal editorials rant about how the former editor of the New York Times' Sunday Magazine, former Newsweek staffer and contributor to Vanity Fair has now shed his Dem credentials and joined the "vast right-wing conspiracy."
For example, Tina Brown christened Klein "Ed Slime" and referred to the book as "bio-porn."
(As an aside, Klein responded to the New York Post by labeling Brown a "has-been.")
Negative comments on the book have actually come from some folks that we might have expected to be more supportive of a Hillary polemic, like Peggy Noonan, Bill O'Reilly and John Podhoretz.
But Noonan was concerned that the book would "tend to inoculate her [Hillary] against future and legitimate criticism and revelations."
Podhoretz dubbed the book "one of the most sordid volumes I've ever waded through."
And O'Reilly refused to bring Klein on "The Factor," placing the book in the same category as Kitty Kelley's blast at the president's clan ("The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty").
Meanwhile my colleague, Carl Limbacher, recently reported that a politically motivated media blackout has been directed at Klein.
If you're like me, you feel as if you're having a déjà vu.
That's because in the back of our minds there's a memory of a similar media response that took place not too long ago over another book. That one was called "Unfit for Command."
The Left Coast Report hopes Klein's book gives Hillary the same assist that "Unfit" gave to Kerry.

the book is being read here in the land of the hildebeast......
I haven't bought the book yet, but I thumbed through a copy in a bookstore the other day. I noticed that it at least mentioned the Blood Trail scandal, which leads me to believe it's more substantive than the critics are saying it is.
Me too!
Yeah, but the difference is that "Unfit..." was released at the politically opportune time.
We're still four years away from that time happening again. So why release the book now?
IMHO, so that four years from now, when something from the book is brought up, The Hildabeaste can say, "That's such old news. We've already been through that." etc.
The average American's political memory is about five seconds long. They won't remember this book come Christmas this year, let alone four years from now.
Figure by O'Reilly's position on Klein/Hillary/Swift Vets et al. . .he has no feet to shoot, by now.
In fact he is losing his legs as well. . .and has little left to stand on. . .
Soon, he will not be able to even 'smell the coffee'. . .
Like I've been saying for several weeks now: the woman dances between raindrops. Barring some new scandal or bombshell that is so egregious or disgusting that even Dan rather could not excuse it, the book will do nothing except cause Hillary's most ardent supporters to circle the wagons. She'll even emerge stronger for it, despite the outrage we'll all exhibit.
So, forget the book. It will contain nothing that will shock us after 8 years of the Clinton circus.
You want to destroy Hillary? Let her open her mouth. Her own words and actions will be the rope that finally hangs her. Be patient. Be smart. Follow her around with camcorders. But by all that's holy, DO NOT MAKE A MARTYR OF THIS WOMAN -- it merely hands her a victory she's not entitled to.
god! anything but another 8 years of the clingons. please....
Hillary seems awfully frightened by the wrong questions. That doesn't exactly show leadership skills. It ain't gonna cut it during a national election...
In my opinion the Kline book coming out when it did, will innoculate Hillary, not sink her. If anyone thinks this book has sunk her banana boat, think again.
Hillary probably ghost wrote the thing herself, then trashed Kline for public consumption.
Her supporters will see it as an attack "from the right", and circle the wagons. Her detracters numbers probably won't increase at all.
Hillary's a pig. Anyone listening who really gives a damn, has known this for more than a decade.
- Her own words and actions will be the rope that finally hangs her.
Be patient. Be smart. Follow her around with camcorders.--Wombat101
The concept behind my VIRTUAL HILLARY ;)
Missus clinton's profound dysfunction--her utter paranoia and megalomania-- are fast becoming impossible to conceal, even from the most casual observer. And this is the case less because of the Klein book than because of hillary clinton's realtime reaction to it.
Old media have two choices--continue to play the access-journalism game and feed their own increasing irrelevance ... or band together to resist this sick, dangerous... person... and end the 4th-estate malfeasance. Hillary clinton needs old media more than old media need hillary clinton. |
Leni Riefenstahl was the film genius who outmaneuvered propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels to chronicle Hitler's 1934 Nuremberg rallies in perhaps the most notorious documentary ever filmed, Triumph of the Will. For sheer power, reach, and ruthlessness, however, the fascist Riefenstahl operation doesn't hold a candle to the Clinton agitprop machine... Whereas Leni Riefenstahl symbolizes the naïve actress and director who is induced to deal with devils, Hillary Clinton is actor, director and--many would argue--devil, rolled into one willful, corrupt, vengeful, despotic, paranoic package. And so we have today... here in America... in America!... Hillary Clinton and her media apparatchiks conducting a campaign of censorship-by-terror that is without precedent; without precedent even if we include in the calculus the despotic Clinton years.... Klein is going to be interviewed on KSFO (560 San Francisco) at 5:20 a.m. tomorrow - 6/29/05.
According to the host on The Morning Show, there is definitely a blackout on Klein. He has had every media interview cancelled. Hellary's peeps have been doing a real job keeping his "light" under a barrel.
This is perfect, Libloather. You are exactly right! Assuming that she does get the Democrats' nomination, she really isn't going to be able to waltz through the rigors of a national election. The questioning is too intense. The spotlights are everywhere. She will "self-reveal," and that's how she will finally go down in flames.
Oh how I wait for that day. I don't want a "squeaker" of a Republican victory. I want a thumping, roaring, gushing rockslide of a defeat for this political vulture! I'm hoping for a "tail-between-legs" finish, NOT a photo finish.
Char :)
Regardless of what's in the book, I think the real story here is Clinton's efforts to keep Klein out of the media. Typical Clinton strategy, smear the messenger. Already been through eight years of it. It reminds me of everything I can't stand about the Clintons. And it motivates me to work to keep them out of the White House. I might even buy Klein's book.

link correction: VIRTUAL HILLARY
No, I'm referring to the tainted blood scandal. (Where blood was sold out of Arkansas Prisons to the red cross.)
