BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Jurors acquitted HealthSouth Corp. founder and fired chief executive Richard Scrushy on a key conspiracy count Tuesday in a $2.7 billion earnings overstatement at the rehabilitation and medical services chain.
The charge, with sweeping implications because it included allegations of fraud, false corporate reporting and making false statements to regulators, was the first in a 36-count indictment against Scrushy, the first CEO charged under the Sarbanes-Oxley corporate reporting law.
The court session continued as jurors announced their decision on the Sarbanes-Oxley charge and others against Scrushy, who blamed the massive accounting scheme on subordinates including all five finance chiefs who served under him at HealthSouth.
In all, 15 former HealthSouth executives have pleaded guilty since 2003, when the scandal erupted publicly and drove the company to the brink of bankruptcy.
Lots of regrets now
Well if so many normal people didn't skip out of jury duty, we wouldn't have as many juries of fools and the gullible.
Just today there was a thread where numerous freepers were posting of how they dodged, or planned to dodge, jury duty. And many are probably the same ones who griped and moaned about the Michael Jackson and OJ verdicts.

How to spot trolls. They bunch up at the start of threads and do a "mob rules" type of tone: something that makes a real conservative feel uncomfortable.
They post endless articles that keep the site moving so quickly people who come here can't make connections with other conservatives.
IMHO these people are working together and they're being paid.
You don't think that's possible? Look what they've done in the past. They've sent fake letters to the editor (which I know for a fact) sent fake letters to our conservative representatives, (as a way to push them off track.) They've called Rush and Hannity and other conservatives saying "I've been a life long Republican and I voted for Bush, BUT ... and then proceed to trash all things conservative. (That's stopping now because Rush is on to them) These are coordinated acts. There nothing random about them starting or quickly ending.
I don't know who's paying FR trolls -- my first guess was the DNC. And that might have been true in the past - now, I believe it's the non-profits subsidized by powerful corrupt liberals. Powerful men with hunger for control - agendas way beyond the simple stories given to boys sitting at computers being paid to lie.
And a note to any troll reading this: If you are one of them, you need to know that people who pay you to lie to us, will also lie to you.
They've defined their morality. You're told the ends justifies the means - but your sweet, innocent ideas of "power to the unions" or "hate Walmart" or "stick it to the rich" or "end the war" or "more for the little guy" or "protection for every snail darter" or whatever they used to compromise you, is not, NOT, what they're after. Liberal fat cats are spending big money to stop conservative citizens from the right to assemble. And they're not doing it to protect your pet belief. You're a means to an end. And nothing more.
Anyone who knows of other ways to spot trolls, please add a comment....
Fooled by the master - Jim Parkman.
Maybe the guy wasn't guilty. Don't believe everything you see on 60 minutes.
Scrushy? Sounds like a cat's name.
yeah, 5 previous CFOs conspired to frame the guy
...or something my daughters put up their hair with.
People fooling around with crafts without a license, worse even people would have been forced to resort to the Doily Place for decorating ideas. So much for limited government on any principle and allowing the free market to take care of certain issues.
All told, still much less of a rip-off than HillaryHMO!
(Meanwhile, racial injustices of the 1960s involving lynchings, bombings, and other acts of murder are actively being ajudicated with convictions against racists with KKK and other hate group involvement succeeding.)
I am against spamming threads, but I loved your post 4 and if there is one post that should be spammed it is this one.
Ask Jim Robinson if it is ok to do so and do it if it is ok.
...or something my daughters put up their hair with.
Or one of those fruit-flavored ices in a cup.
If I tried that defense in an IRS audit, they would laugh in my face.
To me it describes the bottom of a lake.
I think a lot of Birmingham people were shocked with this verdict.
Like it did with Enron?
