Waving signs and banging sticks on plastic buckets like drums, about 200 people, mainly undocumented Mexican immigrants, marched through Farmingville yesterday demanding the right not to be evicted without notice and thrown into the street.
'snip'
The immigrants and their supporters, including priest and activists, were protesting the eviction by authorities last week of at least 28 Mexican day laborers from an overcrowded Farmingville house, leaving them homeless.
'snip'
[Steve] Levy shot back yesterday, saying his campaign is supported by wide swaths of people fed up with overcrowded houses in Farmingville. "The 99 percent of the county that supports the closing of this hellhole need not worry," he said. "I will not back down to this 1 percent lunatic fringe. They evidently don't like me much because I am one of the few officials who are not intimidated by their politically correct histronics."

Two hundred undocumented aliens. That's about five busloads. Send them back to Mexico.

Why wasn't the INS notified of this march?
Oh wait. The march was on a Sunday.
I'd hate to have the INS exert themselves over such a small issue as illegal aliens.
(sarcasm off)

A protest march? Geez! Here's a group of people who obviously have zero fear of arrest and deportation.

"Every person must be treated with dignity and respect," regardless of their immigration status, said Brother Clark Berge of the Episcopalian church's Society of St. Francis in Mt. Sinai, adding that he opposed tossing the men into the streets.
That is true, but on the other had - if you broke into someone's house, as man believe these people did in entering this country -- can you then complain when the homeowner wants you to leave? I'm not sure what kind of right accrue in that situation if you demand to stay longer. Where are the employers of these illegal aliens? Why don't they build company houses and help these workers become legal citizens?

This strikes me as a good place for the INS to put some vans to collect people.

Of course not. Look in the article to see who's backing them.

Exactly my thought: WHERE WAS THE INS?
A bunch of lawbreaking fugitives state that they will be at a certain place and a certain time?
And law enforcement did nothing?!

They should immediately be rounded up, asked for proof of residency and if they don't have any, get shipped back to Mexico in non air-conditioned cattle cars.
