In the midst of the media firestorm over Ed Klein's blockbuster book, "The Truth About Hillary," we can see the moral cowardice and equivocation that can destroy our nation from within.
Yes, the very effective Clinton spin machine has worked with their allies in the so-called Mainstream Media to censor Klein and keep him off the TV airwaves.
But that was to be expected. NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC and CNN are all predictable. They are all left-leaning - and they all succumbed to pro-Hillary pressure.
Like all liberals they talk one game and live another. Diversity' and freedom of choice' only apply to them when it helps their cause. But allowing someone with a different point of view to share air time is a big no-no.
So we could have predicted the obvious censorship surrounding "The Truth About Hillary."
But what we could not have predicted was so many craven so-called conservatives' who bailed out on the Klein book in an obvious attempt to curry favor with the chablis and brie cocktail party set.
One conservative at the normally sane New York Post incorrectly stated that Ed Klein wrote that "Hillary is a lesbian." Precisely the opposite is the case: Ed Klein has repeatedly said and written, "I do not know" her sexual preference.
Another GOP strategist, said he "wanted to take a shower" after reading the book. He obviously did not read a page of it because, if anything, the book repeats much of what has previously been published elsewhere. Klein uses sourced material to paint a comprehensive picture of Hillary the political candidate.
Still another strategist attacked Klein and said his book could create a "sympathetic backlash" for Hillary. What nonsense!
Bill O'Reilly - who is not a conservative but is the number one ranked host on Fox News Channel - had the temerity to trash the Klein book - even before he obtained a copy of it - in order to burnish his independent' credentials. But the real truth is that he is dying to interview Hillary! He has been angling for that interview for months. These members of the Right played right into the Clintons' hands. Not attacking the Clintons is the biggest mistake the Republicans can make.
1992, 1996 and Hillary in 2000 were all the same: the strategy of "not attacking" caused Clinton victories. There are also some very courageous conservatives who have had the guts to stand behind the Ed Klein book. Among them:
Rush Limbaugh, the very first radio host to see that the Hillary spin machine was censoring Ed Klein and his book. Rush is a genius at analyzing the motives of the Left. Sean Hannity, who had the guts to withstand pressure and put Ed on both his radio show and Fox's Hannity & Colmes. Radio host Mike Gallagher who also withstood tremendous pressure. The Washington Times' Editorial Page Editor Tony Blankley - who actually read the book - and wrote a fair and honest review.
Laura Ingraham who interviewed Ed Klein and was very supportive. Thank goodness some people have the intellectual honesty to read a book before commenting on it!
Those on the Right who attacked "The Truth About Hillary" ought to be ashamed of themselves. They are intellectually dishonest with a separate - and selfish - agenda.
This book is exposing the fault lines in American politics. You are either on one side or the other.
As was once said, "All that is required for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." By doing "nothing" to take on Hillary, these so-called conservatives are helping the Clintons return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
For the sake of this nation's future, we cannot allow this to happen.
We must have the courage to fight.
But there is NO "rape allegation" in the book! Klien simply writes of an incident as told by a someone who was with slick at that time. The broohaha over a "rape allegation" is nothing more than democRAT spin in an effort to discredit the book.
Disagree and shows again why newsmax's claims always must be fact checked. Those on the right defending this trash show their true colors. Just because smears (kitty kelly etc..) happen on the left, doesn't mean we should do it on the right. It is sensationalist, biased, distorted, and no I haven't read it and don't plan to, but the 'rape claim' and 'suggested photo' of bill cheating are enough, along with various other claims...
I congratulate those on the right standing for principle.
I think even Rush is backing away from this. As far as I could tell his only point was that there was a double standard in the media over it, which he is correct in, but so what? We already knew that.
"Lazio attacked Hillary personally- he lost by 14 points."
He was kid gloves to her, he did much less than you see in most campaigns ... eg. what Boxer did to Herschenson etc.
Does she tell the truth? Look into how she tried to destroy Jim Rob. Why isn't FR linked to drudge?
The book does nothing to advance or raise the level of political debate in this country. It does nothing to inform voters on the issue and, from what I've heard, is a fairly unsavory read.
I dind't know she tried to destroy him. I heard someone insulted Drudge and he took FR off this site...?
It is a little frustrating to keep hearing people say how "turned off" and "disgusted" they are with the "rape allegations" in this book.
There are NO "rape allegations" in the book. Klein merely quotes an ear and eye witness to having heard Bill Clinton make a statement in Bermuda, that he was "going to go rape" his wife.
Nowhere does Klein suggest that a rape happened. Maybe the statement was an example of Bill Clinton's kinky sense of humor.
Ed Klein, on the few TV and radio interviews he has been allowed to have, has said (as he does in the book), that he has never known and still doesn't know what Hillary's sexual preferences are. i.e. he has never said that she is a lesbian.
So, both the "rape" and the "lesbian" charges as being "over the top" aren't in this book! People read headlines in tabloids while waiting at the supermarket check-out counter, and assume that Ed Klein alleges things in the book that he doesn't. No "rape" charges. No "lesbian" charges.
Char :)
my copy arrived today from Amazon. I found the chapter on Watergate most interesting. I would suggest we all buy it, read it, pass it around to our friends, but shut up about it.
That is the best way to drive the liberals (and Hillary) nuts.
Not anymore he isn't. Greta's #1. How funny is it that the top two shows on Fox, the supposed conservative channel, are a CNN courtroom retread and a big mouth tabloid tv retread from...
I think it's just their time slots. Right now, 'ol blow hard "I'm looking out for me" O'Reilly is on, but there's nothing else on this time of night, either - and we have satellite!
I don't care what the talking heads think. I'm going to read the book, and pass it on to friends. Why not? It's my money.
"Disregard this book- keep your power dry-and don't get taken in again."
BUMP to that!
I believe that the early and unvarnished truth about Hillary should be told early and often.
If she has to defend herself against (liberal) Klein, Hillary is the story. If she defends herself against a conservative, the VRWC becomes the story.
The earlier Ms. Clinton is confronted with the truth about her past, the less time she has to think up ways to wangle out of it.
That said, I'm concerned as to why author Klein (according to Peggy Noonan) "...ignores the Rosetta stone of Hillary studies, the senior college thesis she wrote on leftist organizer Saul Alinsky and how to change the American political culture, which her alma mater, Wellesley College, obligingly continues to suppress on her request."
All-in-all, I may be weakening from my earlier highly skeptical position, and I'm leaning toward adding the book to my ever-expanding conservative library.
