That would be one of a collective group I had in mind.
I wonder how Nancy Reagan reacted to this news? It must be something to know that her hubby was loved by alot of people.
I hope by "TR" you don't mean Teddy Roosevelt, the original John McCain. His presidency marked the beginning of the end of liberty in this country as he abandoned capitalism in pursuit of those greedy "robber-barrons". Sure he was a tough talking guy that fought hard in battles. Sort of like McCain. But his impact on this country as a whole was horrid and grounded in the same class-envy that works for today's Democrats. TR gets my vote for Worst Republican President Ever.
Eisenhower was also a real UN man...although he'd hopefully renounce the UN of today.
I love Ronald Reagan and I agree he was one of the greats of our time...however there are a number of our Founding Fathers whom were greater.
Sorry I missed it, but how can someone be crowned "Greatest American" with only 24% of the votes? (Note: I voted early and often for Reagan, but did split my votes btw he and G. Washington.)
So is Clinton.
Man o Man, I didn't watch the show because of Lauer, but I would have loved to have seen the look on his face.
;)
Someone has got to have a Tivo clip of that moment!
Ronald Reagan won because the liberals split their votes between Lincoln and King.
Matt Lauer wanted Lincoln, Oprah, or King to win.
The libs love old "honest Abe".
And Bill Clinton at #6!
Nancy must be overjoyed, what an honor! And she gets credit for working so long to plan a wonderful ceremony to remember Ronnie by...
Churchill won with about something like 36% in the UK. So the votes were spread around a bit more around here...
The top five were:
Washington
Lincoln
MLK (a nod to the blacks)
Franklin
Reagan
If not for Washington, we would not even HAVE an America. Nobody else could have held the Continental Army together.
It's interesting you would say that.
I suspect Oprah and Elvis got many of GWB's votes.
I tried to vote for GWB online (more to get the goat of liberals than really caring about the outcome of the silly poll).
Anyway, after I clicked to vote for GWB, I got a message which thanked me for voting for Oprah as the Greatest American.
I posted a note on FR about it, and someone posted back that the same thing happened to them, only instead of Oprah, their vote was apparently applied for Elvis.
