Princess Diana had a passionate affair with John F Kennedy Jr, according to a new book on the late former wife of Prince Charles.
Diana and Kennedy, who both died in tragic accidents in the 1990s, met in New York in 1995 when the son of the assassinated US president sought an interview with her for his magazine George , the Sun newspaper reported today.
She refused but agreed to meet him in his luxury suite in the Manhattan hotel overlooking Central Park, according to Simmons, described by the paper as a "friend and confidante" of the late Princess of Wales.
Diana was "bowled over" by Kennedy's charm. "We started talking, one thing led to another and we ended up in bed together. It was pure chemistry," she is quoted as saying in Simmons book 'Diana: the last word'.
Also, according to the new biography, Diana thought the pair would make a great team and even entertained the idea of becoming the United States' first lady if he went into politics.
Upon her return to London, Diana had an astrological chart drawn up on Kennedy and concluded that they were not compatible enough to pursue a relationship, according to Simmons.
They remained in contact for some time before Kennedy married Carolyn Bessette the following year.
Diana was killed in 1997 in a car accident in Paris.
Kennedy, his wife and her sister Lauren Bessette were all killed when the plane he was piloting crashed near Martha's Vineyard in July 1999.

I take back what I had said earlier in her favor. Gawd, what a twit.
I remember someone saying that if her IQ was 5 points lower, she'd require daily watering.
Whatever happened to not speaking ill of the dead, and letting souls rest in peace?
With "in depth" interviews of astrology-loving, shallow, promiscuous princesses, no wonder his magazine George died a premature death.
Hmmm... what if JFK had married Nancy Reagan?
I agree. It angers me when people begin to speak ill of Hitler. /sarcasm
Imagine if Diana had died in the Kennedy plane crash...
Calling Art Bell
Maybe it's the Times of India...or who knows what?
The forces that illicit such depracatory, small and mean spirited comments.
Or will Allen Funt suddenly appear on our monitors and tell us to:"SMILE! You're on Candid Camera!"
Whatever. Sad. Disappointed that I turned in in to this dreary turn out.
Apparently if Diana had ignored her horoscope, she might've lived two more years.
While I agree in principle, I think it is also edifying to note that the way these persons lived their lives, and their very attitudes towards life in general were instrumental in their untimely demise.
I can not say what kind of husband Charles was, but had Diane not been off in Paris sharing her crown jewels with Dodi Fayed, she might still be alive.
Likewise, Kennedy, no doubt accustomed to have his way, made a hurried flight under less than optimum conditions as a very green solo pilot. Somewhere in his life, he had not been taught patience and likely lacked the humility to acknowledge his skills as an aviator where not up to the flight he was making. I've read articles about how his hurried impatience led to the fateful decision to fly himself and his wife that night.
Not sure I believe this, but they would have made a much better couple than she and Dodie or Charlie for that matter. This is most likely garbage however.
I don't honestly care who people say Diana slept with. She can't defend herself which makes her an irresistable target of rumormongers.
Without independant backing, I would place this on the same plane as Kitty Kelley's crap about Nancy Reagan having a tryst with Sinatra.
Thank the Lord that we were spared that. I'm sure I'd have had to jump off a bridge had that come to pass.
Clear case of Arkancide. JFK jr. announced he may run for Senator, Hitlery knocked him off then Di because she wanted to be US first lady.
Yes. But still, what a trophy.
I personally HATE discussing the dead in this manner.
We have no way of proving any of this - and I really resent people making $$$ off her memory.
The first person to bring up Hitler...how does that saying go? I'm only good at OLD sayings. :)
Sayings aside, Diana and JFK Jr. are just not in the same category with monsters like Hitler, who is not resting in peace, we trust.
