...With the sidewalks jammed, I scooped my little guy and held him in my arms and we watched the passing carnival - muscle boys in tiny swimsuits, transvestites on roller skates, gay celebrities sitting on the back of open convertibles. My young son's eyes goggled in alarm. "Daddy," he said, pointing, "those men ... they're not wearing seat belts. It isn't safe." He was so upset that the only way to settle him down was to go to a cop, grimly holding back the crowd, and inform him of the infraction. He looked at me as if I was insane.
I cherish that moment because it shows that kids reflect what we teach them. The glitter boys and prancing fairies meant nothing to him. But sitting on the edge of a car without a seat belt was an emergency. There was a time when fear and hatred of gays was drilled into young people the way seat belt safety is now. A chunk of the country would like to go back to those years, when homosexuals could be safely reviled and brutalized, when there were no gays, but fags, who could be happily kicked behind the school by people who could tell themselves, "They had it coming.'' It boggles my mind that anyone would want to go back to those days, and in the name of Christ, yet

Yep. The men in the white suits can't be far behind.
Hope we're talking kids here.
Significantly, this jackass would never teach his son how to properly use a gun/hunt.
I am sure that he will teach the little one how to use a 'gun' and to 'hunt!'
Heck, given the topic, I figured he was talking about a leather-clad midget.
Uh. *nevermind*
That's what makes liberty so scary for some people - it not only leaves you with the unpleasant task of taking control of your own life, but it allows others to make decisions that, well, bother the heck out of you.
What a load of crapola.
Since when did we teach our youth to hate homosexuals? I don't remember it being mentioned. As a matter of fact, I didn't know Elton John, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie or Rock Hudson were sodommites until the "gay agenda" started being pushed, and I was well into my 20s. I don't even remember thinking about the fact that they existed. If they would have stayed in the closet, they and we would both be better off.
"The glitter boys and prancing fairies meant nothing to him. But sitting on the edge of a car without a seat belt was an emergency."
Liberalism in a nutshell.
Good word choice.
If you didn't know Elton John, Freddie Mercury, and David Bowie were homos you just weren't paying attention. Reminds me of the old ladies who just couldn't believe Liberace was light in the loafers.
I wasn't paying attention, hell I didn't even know what any of those people looked like aside from movies, or album covers. Never listened to the music of Queen, never even thought about the meaning of the groups name.
I'm fifty years old,and I don't remember those days.Fear and hated drilled in?Safely brutalized?I wonder where this guy grew up?
Daddy, there is something wrong. That pirced and tatooed man with a leather spiked necklace has a naked boy on a leash... AND HE IS SMOKING! (gasp!)
I guess he won't teach his son that homosexuals are one hundred times more likely to die of AIDS then in a car accident.Liberals can't seem to see the truth even when it comes to teaching their children about danger.
I grew up in those days. I missed all the lynchings and cross-burnings and gay bar bombings. When did all that horrible stuff happen?
