...According to sources familiar with the intelligence community discussion on this issue, there is mounting evidence that the Pakistani military -- and its intelligence wing, the ISI -- is nurturing its deep ties to Islamist extremists, including those who are sheltering the Al-Qaida leadership and leaders of the Afghan Taliban. ...
The administration shoveled in economic and military aid while soft-pedaling Musharraf's miserable record on democracy and human rights. But it is increasingly difficult to cover up evidence that Musharraf is no longer delivering his side of the bargain.
Consider just these few recent events:
On June 5, the FBI arrested a young Pakistani-American man and his father in Lodi. According to their affidavits, the men purportedly lied about the son being trained during the past two years in Al-Qaida-linked camps just outside Rawalpindi, home to the army's headquarters. The Pakistani government hurriedly denied that such camps existed.
The following week, a Pakistani TV network aired an interview with a senior Taliban commander in contact with Taliban leader Mullah Omar and bin Laden. Afghan officials and the outgoing U.S. ambassador in Kabul, Zalmay Khalilzad, questioned how a TV crew could find a man whom Pakistani intelligence services say they can't locate.
On June 20, Afghan authorities arrested three Pakistanis for plotting to assassinate the U.S. ambassador to Pakistan, a frequent critic of Islamabad's failure to curb the Taliban. Afghan officials see the hand of the ISI behind all this, including a recent upsurge in Taliban violence.
CIA officers agree this is no rogue operation. The only question is whether it was authorized by Musharraf, and if so, why?

Ping!
Google "Quetta and the Quesadillas"
I'll be meeting with my "partners" later this week hopefully and hope to have more to report on Pakistan.
Musharraf would be dead right now if he wasn't helping these guys.
He had that one scare where they blew up the bridge right after he crossed it.. Ever since Pakistan has been worthless in rounding up Al-Qaeda.
He saw the "light" after that close call I reckon.

This is what the CIA thinks? That means that Bin Laden is really in Iran, or for that matter, anywhere else or dead. The CIA has at best, zero credibility on this and everything else they've opined on for decades.
Another Elvis Bin Laden mention.
No, but Daniel Sneider of Mercury news thought it would spice up his story to drop the CIA into it.
All of islam is the problem in the war on terror. No muslim can be trusted to have any allegiance to any non-muslim. Their first and strongest allegiance is to islam and muslims regadless of the constant flow of "ROP", "patriotic muslim-American", "ally in the war on terror" bullsh*t that spews from their mouths and mosques.
Whether one chooses to keep one's head in the sand and ignor the facts, or accept the situation; it does not change the reality that we are in a holy war, and not of our on volition.
When Dick Cheney says that the US knows where Bin Laden is but cannot get to him, I tend to trust him.

In acknowledgement whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature.

We need to seriously consider stripping the citizenship and deportation of those who have not lived up to the conditions of this oath.
Who cares where Bin Laden is anyway. Dick Durban is a much larger threat to the nation than Bin Laden. Bin Laden and Al Qaeda cannot defeat the United States. But Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Dick Durban, Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Hagel and the rest of the left wing vermin can.
BINGO!
Good Post. That really needed to be in bold type!!
"The Oath of Citizenship"
Agreed!
Words mean absolutely nothing to a culture where skills in lying and deceit are considered virtues. So I see no point in even allowing any immigration from certain countries.
PS: God bless you for having fought in and survived Vietnam.
You're smoking crack. The Iranians are alot of things but stupid is not one of them.
They are playing the west like a fiddle right now and they would have too much to lose by sheltering Binnyboy.
Yep tend to agree with you!!!If Iran were intentionally sheltering Bin Laden, they would have given the perfect rationale for an (eager) Uncle Sam to bomb the Mullahs to oblivion. An already nuclear Pakistan, which has been a stauch ally to China & Saudi Arabia( by extension, the Sunni world) would'nt face the same risks.
Unless Iran feels it is sheltered by Russia, China, EU, etc.
