City Council To Weigh Bill Asking For Karl Rove's Resignation
June 24, 2005
The City Council is weighing in on the controversial comments made by President George W. Bush's top adviser about the 9/11 attacks.
Democratic Speaker Gifford Miller says the Council will introduce a resolution next week that calls on the president to fire White House Senior Adviser Karl Rove.
The resolution reads: "Rove's rhetoric and cynical strategy of dividing Americans against each other for partisan gain has no place in our nation's public discourse."
The presidents top advisor claimed during a conservative party fundraiser Wednesday that liberals did not understand the consequences of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Rove said liberals responded weakly to the 9/11 attacks, and later put American troops abroad in danger by criticizing their actions.
"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding to our attackers," said Rove.
The City Council resolution also calls on Governor George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg to denounce Rove's statements.
The White House communications director says Rove's comments were not directed at Democrats. But powerful Democratic lawmakers like Senators Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton were outraged by the comments and demanded an apology from Rove.
"And they know that most Americans agree with Rove."
It's not a matter of agreeing or disagreeing. What he said was a fact, not his opinion.
Kennedy wants Rumsfeld to resign, Hillary, and her bunch wnat Rove to resign.
Funny, I don't remember him asking him.
Do all threads have to pertain to that?
I'm sure plenty of people are discussing it on other threads.
Does it change anything if more people discuss it at the same time?
the freak show continues...
Resignation for speaking the Truth, but Treason on the Senate floor commended? Interesting priorities.
Nice fantasy but the President is never going to fire Rove. Not a damn thing they can do about it.
Gotta love it..........the liberals are outing themselves left and right.
Speaking the TRUTH about a Liberal is like putting a CRUCIFIX in front of a VAMPIRE!
There I fixed it. Never mind that the 'Rats would never do that.
Pol Pot? Gulag? Concentration camps?
Yeah. Right.
the democrat plantation strikes back.
The RATS really know how to play the game! While the pubs were sitting there twiddling their thumbs given Durbin a free pass after the contrition act on the senate floor, the rats are out in full force demanding Rove resign. They know how to keep this on the front pages and RED HOT! Where is the RNC calling for Durbin to resign? WHERE?? ARGHHHHHHH! This makes me so mad I could screammmmmmmmm!!
Rove better watch out, those city councils can be a real MF. One of them just took away our property rights theu the Surpreme Court.
a repub with cajones, like Lincoln, would fire back that liberals' rhetoric and cynical strategy of dividing Americans against each other for partisan gain has no place in our nation's public discourse!
Don't you know that the truth never applies to Libs. They just yammer on and on and the idiots in NYC listen.
Meanwhile, my condo association may ask Howard Dean to step down.
GIFFORD MILLER is bashing someone about cynical and partisan rhetoric? The man lives, eat, sleeps and breathes it! What a maroon. Anyone with half a brain can see through this one.
Yeah, like NYC is some liberal "holy site" or something.
Yep. Sounds about right to me. Actually, you could place just about any lib in there.... Durbin, Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Biden, Dodd, Feinstein, Schumer, Boxer, Jeffords, McCain.....
ROTFLMAO!
But yes, the council is a bunch of Mugabe @ss kissing morons.
