City Council To Weigh Bill Asking For Karl Rove's Resignation

June 24, 2005

The City Council is weighing in on the controversial comments made by President George W. Bush's top adviser about the 9/11 attacks.

Democratic Speaker Gifford Miller says the Council will introduce a resolution next week that calls on the president to fire White House Senior Adviser Karl Rove.

The resolution reads: "Rove's rhetoric and cynical strategy of dividing Americans against each other for partisan gain has no place in our nation's public discourse."

The president’s top advisor claimed during a conservative party fundraiser Wednesday that liberals did not understand the consequences of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Rove said liberals responded weakly to the 9/11 attacks, and later put American troops abroad in danger by criticizing their actions.

"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding to our attackers," said Rove.

The City Council resolution also calls on Governor George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg to denounce Rove's statements.

The White House communications director says Rove's comments were not directed at Democrats. But powerful Democratic lawmakers like Senators Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton were outraged by the comments and demanded an apology from Rove.

They'll probably just edit the names on the same request they made when they asked Durbin to resign. They did ask him, didn't they? Otherwise, this would be very unfair....

Wait a minute here...Rove made the remarks in a speech to a private group; Turban Man spoke on the floor of the Senate. Is there a difference, or is it Memorex???

Whatever, we have a government that can seize our property now for "big buisness" and we are going to talk about Rove? How about the Supreme court

Calling US troops Nazis, Stalinists, and Pol Pot agrarian reformers OK. Telling the truth about Democrats not OK.

I think I've got it. They've totally lost their minds.

Liberals cannot stand to be EXPOSED by anyone -- and their response is not to prove them wrong, BECAUSE THEY CAN'T --- but to do character assasinations. They don't rise to the level of idiot...they are too low in the gene pool..

I kind of like how liberals must reply on pronoucements from moronic city councils. It shows how the nighty have fallen.

Next, I suppose the K-6 PTA for Washington Elementary in Lackawana, MN should have a voice vote condemning Rove.

Nothing makes a liberal more angry than hearing the truth. And they know that most Americans agree with Rove.

When a city council demands the firing of an advisor to the president, it's all over but the singing.

I say we send them a list of other names to consider for "cynical explotation" and political hyperbole: Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Dickie Durbin, Howard Dean, etc.

I laughed at all the reports in the news of Hillary and Co. crying, and the other psychotic reactions to the truth.

If they can't take the heat, than they need to get out of the kitchen.
