White House Defends Rove 9/11 Remarks After Dems Demand Apology
AP ^ | June 23, 2005 | Bryce Mursch

Posted on 06/23/2005 11:07:26 AM PDT by West Coast Conservative

The White House is rejecting Democratic demands that Karl Rove apologize for saying liberals meekly offered "therapy" for the terrorists as a response to 9/11.

Press Secretary Scott McClellan says President Bush's top political adviser was just "telling it like it is." Rove delivered his blast a few miles from Ground Zero in New York, at a Conservative Party dinner, he said liberals sought "understanding" for the attack and Democrats called for "moderation and restraint" while President Bush saw it for what it was: a declaration of war.

McClellan says Rove wasn't getting personal, just describing different philosophies.

Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean calls Rove's remarks "divisive and damaging." Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid says Rove should apologize, or resign.

At a Senate hearing on Iraq, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton called on military leaders to "immediately repudiate" what she called "an insulting comment."

"just wait until later when youre on your computer, look up your post, click the link back to the post with the picture, and save it."

Oh yeah, good point (DUH!!) I've spent the past three days error-fixing and increasing available system resources - there were only 64% free - just so I could use it without a KERNEL32.DLL error or blue screen of death. Must be getting a bit brain dead. Currently, I'm trying to get her system to recognize her CD-RW...but got sidetracked because I can't RESIST checking in on FR if I'm online.

Ah well...back to work.

Yes, I agree that we have a very strong White House. However, few of our many Judicial nominees have made it off the Senate floor and the Republicans are in the majority. Just recently Frist was willing to walk away from further debate over Bolton's nomination, but President Bush sent him back to the floor to push harder. 7 Republican senators made a deal with 7 Democratic senators to put only a handful of Judicial nominees through, thus ending the threat of a "nuclear (Constitutional) option. I will believe that we have strong Republican Senators when I see them demand that the Constitutional option be invoked so that President Bush can get his Judicial nominees appointed.

You must have missed the part about Hillary asking Rumsfeld to rediate Rove's remarks.

I would LOVE to have seen Rummy's "WTF is she wasting my time with this?" face.

Oh well. This has been a fine diversion from the insane Supreme Court ruling. Why isn't Howard Dean ranting about that?

additionally Kerry was quoted as saying that much of our response to terrorism should be as a criminal matter.

No then Frist will be criticized for not disemboweling a RAT on the Senate floor. Our resident Bush critics are no more rational than the DU crowd.

Hannity just played some great sound-bites of prominent Democrats that proved Rove's point. Made within weeks of 9/11.

What's that old saying about throwing a stick into a pack of dogs? The dog that yelps is the dog you hit?

Well, it seems like the Dogocrats, as usual, can't take what they dish.

I wish that the Republicans would adopt the Dennis Miller approach to Senate business, where he suggested (paraphrased from "The Raw Deal", Chicago 2003) that many of the Senators really can't stand their counterparts, and "'my distinguished colleague' means 'this pr*ck here.'" Oh, but I can wish...

And if Senator Frist keeps winning fights such as forcing Durbin to apologize, getting our judges, etc., then we may not have much left to debate about his leadership there, either.

Ummmm. I think you might be being a bit over-optimistic there.

After all, we haven't gotten to the 1st Supreme nominee yet let alone a hard right one.

THEN we'll see what 'extraordinary circumstances' really means.

Perhaps because our wanna-be 1800 B.C. era Gay, Greek City-States (aka urban Blue zones) are the ones doing the confiscations of private property...

Well Hillary never said anything about Durbin's remarks - and they support the enemy of America.

His remarks only support the President's actions - not the enemy of America unless you feel as I do that the Democrat Party is the "enemy of America".
