New treatments, better detection and knowledge of prevention has doctors and researchers more hopeful than ever before
About 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimers disease and it is predicted to strike 14 million by 2050 as the population ages. Currently there are treatments available that target the symptoms, but one experimental drug is actually working to slow the underlying disease process. NBC's Mark Mullen reports, and Dr. Giselle Wolf-Klein of the Parker Geriatric Institute shares information on other treatments, early detection and prevention.

Sorry, I just looked at this. They "upgraded"(?) my computer to Windows XP. I no longer can get a pager. It must have changed the security settings.

Those are either the morning meetings or the sluggish meetings where young athletic men perform unbelievable tricks on bicycles, etc., while drinking a caffine-spiked, florescent yellow, carbonated drink.

A man at my church who was caretaker for his wife firmly said TEN years and that's kind of held true for the admittedly non-scientific study I've taken. Ten years for my mom, but that was from the initial diagnosis (when I really became apparent something was wrong).
I think the disease had been attacking her for a long time before.
