The politicization of Terri Schiavo prompted the American Medical Association on Tuesday to adopt policy opposing any legislation that presumes patients would want life-sustaining treatment unless it is clear that they would not.
Tuesday's action at the annual meeting of the nation's largest doctors group also reaffirms existing AMA policy that says it is ethical in some cases to discontinue life-sustaining treatment if it is in the patient's best interests.

The organs are free. The procedure is where the profit margin lies. Need the organs to conduct the procedure.
It's illegal to sell the organ, but that just puts the market for organ swapping procedures into a backroom made of medical ethicists.
Most, but not all. Personally, I don't trust them. I also don't trust advance directives. I do agree with your advice to have a trusted surrogate.

However, even doctors who believe in terrorism, probably don't kill their patients.
To take this a step further ....... who gave the AMA or any medical association the right to make decrees stating that they will give no medical care for some at a point that they decide?
It just dawned on me this morning - the gall of them. Just who elected the AMA the elite that get to chose which of us gets life and which are escorted out the door by withdrawal of care. Also, who gave them the right to deny Americans the right to life?
Now before you disagree - think a minute and put yourself in position of a person wanting to live to take care of your family, your children or any other reason. You go to a hospital and your wishes mean nothing because the "AMA" (the elite of our world) has decided that they are allowed to determine when to take away medical care that will save you.
Not also think a minute - do you think any doctor's family will be denied that same care they deny you? No, they would not - the doctors themselves would do all the deciding but the AMA will not give you that right - they decide for you because they control the medical care.
Well, I demand the same consideration given to other doctors because the doctors of this world are not a superclass of people entitled to better care than the rest of us.
Isn't this what you wanted? You people will never be satisfied because you have a psychotic condition where you think people are out to kill you. This little ditty is exactly what you said you wanted all along: If there is no written consent, assume life. Now you're pissed off at this? Why am I not surprised.
No, I'm going to promote the neighborhood Home Medical Care Respecting Sanctity of Life Group.
"We will just have to come up with a neighborhood HOME MEDICAL CARE RESPECTING SANCTITY OF LIFE or HMCRSL.
We will have videos running during our visit to prove that we did nothing to kill but helped. We might need a doctor to give us medical advice that we can enact (but at least he won't have access to the patient).
There will be peace and security for all - no more sleepless nights watching for when those nurses try and pull something on you while you sleep."
The AMA has a nice office in Washington. Any legislator can, for a fee, come to them and discuss problems encountered with certain portions of society. Upon arrival they meet the 'administrator' and say, "Sir, we are having the devil of a time with these pro-lifers on our new bill to have an evaluation of every baby born to make sure it meets the standard criteria of life - is there anything you can do to help us?"
"Well Sen. HonestandTrustworthy, you have heard of our new "Custom Care" plan haven't you? We discuss other aspects of a person's whole being before we make critical medical decisions about their best interests."
"Now if you wish to input problems with some of our 'care requesters' you just fill out this little form and we will see that any that seek our care will have this included as part of the evaluation session."
"We will send the bill for this service to a P.O. Box you designate."
"We understand in our society that some people when ill can override their rights to certain things and we have developed this method to insure that their illness inspired actions do not undermine the proper functioning of other portions of American life."
This is no surprise to me. They are dehydrating them now rather routinely.
But decided by the physician. Or the bioethics committee.
Doctors are proclaiming that only they can ethically decide if a person should live or die. Doctors are saying they are above the courts and congress.
I'm wide awake and scared out of my mind at what is happening to our world!
We are pyschotic? I guess YOU can say we are since we have seen with our own eyes that the medical establishment kills people. It just happend in Florida, or don't you remember?

I used to send my science fiction to the Writers of the Future contest. But never again.
I will quiz any doctor I go to on their opinion on Terri. If they were for the death by dehydration. If they favored her death I would leave and find a different doctor.
