WASHINGTON - Under fire from Republicans and some fellow Democrats, Sen. Dick Durbin apologized Tuesday for comparing American interrogators at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to Nazis and other historically infamous figures.

“Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line,” the Illinois Democrat said. “To them I extend my heartfelt apologies.”

His voice quaking and tears welling in his eyes, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate also apologized to any soldiers who felt insulted by his remarks.

“They’re the best. I never, ever intended any disrespect for them,” he said.

Phony sobs and quivering lower lip-schtick from this cheeseball do not impress us. He needs to be taken down. His sniveling non-apology apology does not suffice to atone for defaming US Marines. Sen. "Turban" intentionally dabbled in treacherous calumny in order to gain political leverage for his demented party. No words from him can be believed. He must be mercilessly pilloried and scorned until he skulks away from public life. Perhaps then he will truly ask forgiveness for his evil lies and recover some shards of his soul. TRAITOR!

I listened to his speech. He seemed more upset about the controversy he'd stirred up than apologetic about his remarks.

Oh did Durbin apoligize? My mistake....I do remember him blubbering about people not understanding him...then crying and yammering some Abe Lincoln quote to absolve him of responsibility..then he cried some more....hmmm...nope no apology that I heard. Sorry if I implied that he apologized.

I didn't see an actual apology. Durbin did not admit he was wrong nor did he take responsibility for the damage that his seditious comments have caused or will cause. I saw someone getting teary eyed because this misunderstanding would be a blot on his legacy - fear that he may only be remembered for his misunderstood statements. He apologized only to those over sensitive types who were offended and didn't understand the point he was trying to make.

And then McCain jumps in (the stinking whackjob RINO) and says that it is all OK and that we can put this behind us now. Bull hockey!! We'll put it behind us when Durbin is censured for his sedition and he is removed from his Senate Minority Whip leadership post. Personally, I'd like to see him placed in stocks for a few days on the Mall in front of the Capitol Building.
