Some case info to go along with this map...
(as far as I know this is all correct)

The Island is 6 to 7 miles deep by about 20 miles long

B-1 = California Lighthouse - where the boys claim they took her first after leaving the Bar.

D-3 = #4 is the location of the 2 Marriott Hotels - where the 2 brothers (and now Joran) claim they dropped Joran and Natalee off after leaving the lighthouse -  the 2 brothers claim they went home to Hooiberg after that.

D-3 = #19 is the location of the Holiday Inn where Natalee was staying.

G-5 = Where the red #2 marker is pointing to is the area that the Carlos & Charlie Bar is located

D-4 = Township of Montana is where Joran lives

F-7/8 = Hooiberg (Haystack Mountain) - The 2 Kalpoe brothers live in this area at the foot of the Haystack Mountian.

C-9 = By the Natural Bridge on the map is the location where the sharks hang out as they are fed at this location. This is the Shark Infested Feeding Area.

E-3 = Wetland in the Bird Sanctuary is the location where they found the Condoms/Condom Wrappers - Duct Tape (looked like black electrical tape to me) - Female Flowered Panties - and a String or Strap from a Bikini or Halter Top.

It's hard to dig up some sympathy for this woman. She's crying because her son can't brush his teeth like he used to.

Well, my only point was that she has been criticized for setting up a meeting with them and then not doing it, to which someone replied that perhaps she had been told by someone in authority that these contacts might complicate the investigation. I agreed with that possibility.

But your point is well taken, that she just felt like she could not go through with it because it is too painful.

Or you know, both things could be true.

Bottom line, she is bound to be barely hanging on, physically and emotionally. To say she "pulled a stunt" and deserves criticism for it is too harsh, IMO.

Any mother would be genuinely upset if their son was suspected of murder and being held in jail.

However, this woman will not allow the barest possibility that her son could be in the wrong. She concedes nothing, and blubbers over every word that proceeds out of Joran's mouth. This is a case of my child, my child, my child, to the exclusion of all other reality.

Yet, we know that her "child" has been anything but Mr. Perfect, way before now. She seems clueless that he already has a bad behavior record and he is only 17. (A record the parents' have allowed him to make, with impunity, it would appear.)

Joran's mother said in that interview with Greta, that she called her son's school to warn him not to talk about Natalee. He'd told his pals at school that of course he knew nothing about her disappearance and implied it was voluntary on her part. He also said he'd kick her butt when she turned up because of all the trouble she'd caused him.

Joran's father has no illusions about his son. He knew Joran was running wild, but didn't stop it. Natalee's disappearance is the result, and the father must be feeling a sense of guilt. In the end, even if Joran is proven innocent, the chain of events that led to her disappearance started with him. Joran has brought disgrace and shame upon himself and his family. The other two men are no better.

I wonder what Greta has said privately to Natalee's mother...her take on Joran's family, the whole set up at the house with the refreshments and candle by the prayer card, the convenient phone call taking Papa VdS away from the interview at a tricky point, etc.. Clearly, it was carefully thought out and arranged, desperately needed after Papa VdS.'s flight from the press the night before (smacked of guilty knowledge), and his behavior the first night at the Holiday Inn. Greta has so much legal experience, there's no way Joran's family fooled her, so she must have confided her thoughts to Natalee's mother and family, perhaps suggested more approaches that might work.

This am on Fox: Aruban police have just put all three suspects in the same room to grill them. Before now, they'd kept them apart. The former special FBI agent on Fox being interviewed said if Joran was stonewalling under aggressive questioning, it was time for the good cop to 'make friends' and break him down.

Those Texas searchers were coming in on a red eye, I think. This group of volunteer searchers has a seventy per cent success rate in more than 4000 searches. They had to get some kind of legal Aruban paper for their cadaver dogs, though, and that might delay things a bit. If I were Nat's mom, I'd be right there at the airplane to greet them, too.

I agree. That interview with the parents has left me cold.

I feel badly for them, but remain suspicious. I hate to think any parent would not be completely forthcoming in a matter this dreadfully serious.

i think that natalee's mom is probably a bit more concerned about finding her daughter than worrying about how she is coming across on TV, in person or on FR! the fact that she is able to go on day after day with the stress and worry she is confronting is astounding. you can call her any name you wish and have any opinion of her that you see fit, but that doesn't make her life any less than a living hell til she finds what happened to her daughter. i wouldn't think any less of her if she threw a screaming, cussing fit on national TV bc of the strain that she is under. this is NOT ABOUT PR for heaven's sake.
