What just happened in sky over Los Angeles?

About ten minutes ago, Husband in hills behind Brea, between Brea and Chino Hills, spotted in the northwest what looked like something entering the atmosphere. We grabbed binoculars, and it was extremely high altitude, coming in, not going out. Anybody see it? Can probably still spot it further north, as in Pasadena, etc. Grab binocs and look.

I TOTALLY agree with you regarding the "running gags" .. They get tiresome ... Running tires me enough, without trying it gagged. Is that some new boot-camp thing?

When I see weird things in the sky - the first thing I do is run inside, turn the computer on, wait for it to warm up, and then log on to FR and ask the FReepers if they saw it too....

Way kewl! The best I've seen was a bolide exploding over the San Joaquin Valley as I was going through Pacheco Pass one evening.

"Must be Aurora coming in after a run."
I have it on good authority from several people on this very site that there ain't no such thing as the Aurora.

"Probably something from Vandenberg"
Well if in fact it was over the Chino Hills area, no way no how was it from Vandenburg. I have lived in Brea / Chino all my life , contrails from Vandenburg are no where near this neck of the woods.

When I see weird things in the sky - the first thing I do is run inside, turn the computer on, wait for it to warm up, and then log on to FR and ask the FReepers if they saw it too.... /sarc Hmmm .. remember the weird things people saw in the sky when the returning space shuttle exploded? What was the first thing they did? What was the first thing Buckhead did when he noticed anomalies in the National Guard memo? Not that I'm even dreaming of comparing myself to Worthy Buckhead, but sheesh ... get a grip. Logging on to FR and asking FReepers if they see things, too, is a big part of what FR is all about.
In closing, I'd like to compliment you on your constructive, thought-provoking input to this thread.
