About ten minutes ago, Husband in hills behind Brea, between Brea and Chino Hills, spotted in the northwest what looked like something entering the atmosphere. We grabbed binoculars, and it was extremely high altitude, coming in, not going out. Anybody see it? Can probably still spot it further north, as in Pasadena, etc. Grab binocs and look.
they already make them listen to christina aguilera. heartless b*stards.
You realize that Weekly World News is, by its own admission, the "World's Most Reliable Newspaper" (or something like that ... can't remember the exact words above the masthead!) To my knowledge, WWN has NEVER blamed UFOs or anything else on Bush! Harrrumph!
Maybe just really short contrails... Sounds like the air there is really dry so they would dissipate almost immediately. Sun reflecting off of them makes they appear to glow since sun is low and aircraft is high.
you're bad. but finny didn't say anything about flying boxer shorts, so it must be a separate incident.
You sound credible to me. I just wished I would have seen it. Listening to radio, nothing yet. I must have missed all the humor others saw.
Again, not a launch. Have seen dozens of them from VAFB, and several from Canaveral. This was incoming, not outgoing, and not in the trajectory of VAFB. And it looked very much controlled. Am wondering -- surely, SOME other FReeper on the Western Seabord caught sight of it??
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh too funny
See my post 103, please. :^) P.S. Thanks for the giggle!
Roger that.
Could have been a large meteor?
Weekly World News is as reliable as the NY Times , thats for sure.
"It was so high on my husband's first spotting it (he was on the phone to his daughter and snapped his fingers at me to come see, whence I got out the binoculars) that it looked like a comet in that it looked like it was staying still."
Wow...all he did was snap his fingers? Got ya trained it would seem.
*grins and awaits the wrath of the Freeper wives"
Well .. I'm in San Diego so I can't help you.
Free Republic....Proving once again that when and if the end of the world comes, it will be escorted in with bad jokes, humorous (or humorless) puns, and many fishing lines in the water trolling for trolls. LOL
H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds - Silicon Valley FReep-in for FReepers, FRiends, and FRamlies (Vanity)
they'll have another one by thursday. they run about one a week.
I know what you're saying. It's why I tried to get it up on FR as fast as I could, because I wanted others to see it and put in their two-cents. It did not leave a contrail, it showed what looked like a reentry burn. When we first spotted it, it looked like it was simply hovering, the way comets look when you see them -- you can't tell that they're travelling a zillion miles a minute. When I got out the binocs, you could then see that it was indeed moving, and toward terra firma. Only speculation is that it's a top-secret craft ... covert but overt!
Missile launch from Vandenberg AF base?
