U.S. Marines said Saturday that about 50 insurgents have been killed so far in the American military's latest campaign to stop foreign fighters infiltrating Iraq from neighboring Syria. About 100 insurgents have also been captured in the operation that began Friday in Karabilah, about 200 miles west of Baghdad.
The campaign was being waged by about 1,000 Marines and Iraqi forces, backed by main battle tanks.
Karabilah is just outside Qaim in the volatile Anbar province.
Any public info on what units are involved in this Operation would be greatly appreciated.
ANOTHER Iraq is NOT a quagmire BUMP!!!
a 10-year-old girl was killed
These terrorists did get reprisal for their 50 dead with the killing of a ten year old girl in Iraq. There is a lot of PC in the article if you read the complete article. So the AP does make it sound like the terrorists are winning if one reads the complete article.
However, it was reported I believe in the Washington Times this week that Iraq is sucking all the Terrorist activity worldwide into that country -- the terrorists are focusing on destroying the newly elected government versus targets in the West or the Middle East or Asia.
I wouldn't have any as I am no longer in Iraq.
Check www.centcom.mil to see if they have any info. Any releases will probably come from them.
Great news.
