Today's topic: what's on your summer reading list? Whether you are going on vacation, sitting on the beach or just hanging out on your front porch, there's usually a good novel nearby. Any particular plans or will it be a more serendipitous approach?
Almost forgot, "Dragon's Fury", Volumes I-V, by FR's own Jeff Head.
I'm also going to check out the Janet Evanovich "Stephanie Plum" books, and Patricia Cornwell "Kay Scarpetta" books.
Lil Freeper just mentioned Janet Evanovich's books this morning in the Hobbit Hole. I'm going to check one or two out for our trip to Japan in July.

The one book I read of hers was a disappointment. It was supposed to be a mystery, yet she brought in a brand new character near the end to be the murderer. That's cheating!

I love Dick Francis. In fact, I just went to the bookstore to find another that I might not have read. He is just a terrific writer.
Janet Evanovich's books are a riot. Like most series, they lose their appeal after a number of books, but she is just hilarious, and the story line really holds your interest.
John Adams was great. I never fail to be amazed at just how much these men sacrificed or just how slim was the victory.

I can't remember his screen name. It was sort of complicated--a mixture of letters and numbers, I think. I can search through my freepmail, because I had some back-and-forth with him at one point. Maybe there's another way to find out--if he has a website.

An amazing account considering the time it was written. Offers a lot of history about Mohammed that has been "sanitized" by historians. I'm learning a lot about how the cult of Mohammed was started and how it was spread. Something I didn't realize is that the "rock" was there and worshiped by pagan religions long long before Mohammed's time. He co-opted the rock for himself.
I've also read Appalachia, which is a trilogy by three authoresses. Clean fiction.
Found it. Had to go back to 2001. A real trip down the lane. I'll freepmail him and see if it's OK to share his screen name with you. He made it public at one point but better to check.
I bought it today at Sam's Club - that one and "The Truth about Hillary" by Edwared Klein. Thanks for the heads up; I am not often on the ball with the release dates.
