LONDON - Organizers of the London Live 8 concert said Sunday that the original members of the British rock band Pink Floyd would perform at the July event for the first time in more than two decades.Guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason, bass player Roger Waters and keyboard player Richard Wright have not performed on stage together since 1981.
The group, which achieved major success with their 1973 album "Dark Side Of The Moon," will join musical acts including Elton John, Madonna, Paul McCartney and Coldplay at the anti-poverty concert in Hyde Park on July 2.
"Like most people I want to do everything I can to persuade the G-8 leaders to make huge commitments to the relief of poverty and increased aid to the third world," Gilmour said.
"It's crazy that America gives such a paltry percentage of its GNP to the starving nations."
Waters, the group's founder, split with the rest of the band after a falling-out in the 1980s.
"Any squabbles Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context, and if re-forming for this concert will help focus attention then it's going to be worthwhile," Gilmour said.
You run and you run, to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking...
and racing around, to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older....
shorter of breath, and one day closer to death.
Still one of the best lyric lines in the history of rock, IMO.....

Check that link for a better photo......not pornographic, but I wasn't sure if it would be too much......
And I would absolutely put politics aside to see this reunion......if I could afford to go.......
Syd hasn't performed in about 35 years. I heard he has diabetes and a variety of mental illnesses, but I don't think he is blind - at least I saw a picture of him taken about 10 years ago walking down the street without help.
Nothing irks me more than when rich people bitch about not enough tax money being spent for their projects.
Wow! How disappointing to find out such a terrific musician is a scumbag.

As Gilmour sits in one of his mansions.
Do you speak German? No? You're welcome.
Now play your guitar and shut the f**k up.
"Animals" is still one of the greatest rock albums of all time. I'll have to look for it on the BitTorrent indexers.
Syd went insane, blew his mind.has spent the rest of his life
living with his mother.
Looks like Rodger in a dress.
Pink Floyd to reunite for Live 8 concert
Don't take the brown Geritol.
Did these nit wits ever think .. Not so's you'd notice it.
Well, not to be too much of a kill-joy here, but David Gilmour actually IS quite involved in charity work, in fact he sold one of his homes in 2003, and donated the procedes (nearly $6,000,000, IIRC) to homeless charities. It seems that he also plays wuite a few charity gigs.
Something to keep in mind is that not everyone involved in charitable giving actually publicises it.

Oops
wuite => quite

Lets see his gross percentage over the years plus all his assets and measure it to his giving. Gilmore must think government is the answer to every problem on the face of the earth.
As has been mentioned he gives a lot to charities, including recently a total of $10 million to the homeless group Crisis in the last year or so. Last I read his net worth is $122 million and he plans to sell off some more holdings to give to charity. Most of his concerts he does for free and the proceeds are for charity. Roger Waters gives 25% of his income to charities. Sure their rich. But they're talented and they are much more giving then many American stars. I don't like what he said, but at least he puts his money where his mouth is.
