Liberals trip over themselves always trying to make things safe, like grates over culverts in ditches. It was a great idea at first, so they thought, And they spent millions in my local RM putting grates over culverts so (unsupervised) kids playing in fast flowing water filled ditches after a rainstorm didn't get sucked into the culvert. (Up to this point, nobody had died, but one kid came close after being sucked into and out the other end)
Soon after all the work was complete, another big storm came, and unsuperized kids felt even safer because their liberal mommies and daddie's had made the world a safer place. Then it happened, a kid got sucked down, and because there was a grate, got trapped behind thousands of lbs of water and debris, and drowned.
millions more were spend removing all the grates.

missedie, you will be fine because you will love your children as gifts. They will become your life not so much as a replacement but a new place where your love can grow.
Never taking them for granted or taking your eye off of them for ONE SECOND will get them to adulthood, which is our greatest assignment and obligation!
I could go on... good luck

I have heard of the anecdote but give it no more weight than any individual instance however it may tug the heart strings.

Don't know how they're defining children, but from CDC data for 2002, we have:
In the dictionary "birth to puberty" ie 11-12. Most governmental agencies to 11-13 defined at child.
Only anti gun agencies define children beyond age of 13.

"So, according to the leftys, cops and the military should not be allowed to have guns? If they are, why?"
Actually, there's a good counter-argument there. When the gun-nazis claim they need to limit private owner ship of firearms to protect the police, you might point out that the firearm most commonly used against a policeman is his own weapon. So, I guess you could argue that taking firearms from police would help save their lives.
"If for protection, why deny American citizens the same basic right to protect themselves from the perps of violence?"
In the gun-nazi world, you don't need a weapon for protection since you're not properly trained and more likely to just get yourself hurt. They just love to cite those bogus statistics about a gun in the home being more likely to be used to kill a member of a family than to kill an intruder. (I said bogus since Lott has disproved those statistics several times.) Besides, don't you realize that criminals would not be criminals if it were not for our 'unjust society'? Why would you want to hurt someone who is a 'victim'?

Has any parent who ever lost a child to drowning in a pool ever sued a pool manufacturer for wrongful death or murder? Or to go one better, why not sue the municipal water supply company or the maker of the pump that provided the water for the pool. Water is an inherently dangerous product that can be fatal if inhaled and nothing is too absurd for the great American kleptocracy.

If swimming pools are outlawed, only outlaws will have swimming pools. Now, who didn't smell that one coming?
