Her last chance: Joan Kennedy cuts an 11th-hour deal with her kids

Joan Kennedy's alcoholism has spiraled so out of control that she has consumed ``massive amounts'' of mouthwash, prompting a judge to halt her from selling her Cape Cod estate and to put her under strict court supervision, the Herald has learned.
Under an 11th-hour deal struck in Barnstable Probate & Family Court on Friday, Kennedy's $6 million Hyannisport home has been taken off the market. In addition, the court dissolved a trust established by her second cousin, Webster E. Janssen, who had put the house up for sale without the knowledge of her three children.
The house, along with Kennedy's Back Bay condo, is now controlled by two court-appointed trustees instead of by Janssen, according to two sources with knowledge of the settlement.
A source close to the Kennedy clan said yesterday that Joan's children have filed a complaint against Janssen with the federal Securities & Exchange Commission alleging ethics violations in his handling of Joan Kennedy's finances.
Under the settlement, Joan Kennedy will be required to follow strict rules and enter alcohol rehab. Kennedy, who is the ex-wife of U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), will also be required to check in regularly with the courts.

As bad as you may think the Kennedy's are, they are beyond your imagination.
This site has some info:

she's getting off easy compared to maryjoActually, I think Mary Jo was the luckier of the two women. Her death wasn't drawn out over miserable decades.

It's time they just withheld food from her while she is in rehab. That will fix another problem for the kennedys. After all, some would say that an alcoholic is brain dead.

Lovely. She's not allowed to sell her own house. This is indeed reminiscent of what old Joe did to Rosemary.

As a lifelong resident of the Gay State...and one who has followed local politics closely for quite a while....I can tell you that you're wrong.
With the Kennedys,it's always about money and/or power.
Always!

None of us really knows the facts to pontificate on this one. We should stop. I suspect you defend the Kennedys because they support your own Culture-of-Death values.

The really odd part about this matter is the behavior of Congressman Kennedy of Rhode Island. His escapades have been splashed in Rhode Island newspapers. He is now trying to "help" his mother and he has issues himself. The Coast Guard being summoned to his sailboat by an upset female was covered up. The summer sailboat rental was in such piggy condition he was sued by the owners. It was gross. His temper is legend. Joan Kennedy will never win any court battle in Hyannis or any other place. Her road to recovery
is tough. Seeing that stinker ex husband each day on the news must be a bi***.

Congressman Kennedy from Rhode Island is not from Rhode Island. He's a carpetbagger for whom a place at the political table was created in RI. But don't expect the Kennedys to pay the piper for anything they do in New England. They are Gods there.

YIKES, it's true!
"Kennedy, the oldest sister of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy [related, bio] and the late President John F. Kennedy, died Friday at 86 in a Wisconsin hospital near the facility where she spent most of her life. At age 23, a lobotomy was performed on her reportedly on medical advice that it would calm the mildly retarded woman's behavior and mood swings that her father feared would create problems for her and embarrass the prominent family."
THAT family couldn't be more of an "embarrassment" if they tried. The Kennedy family is one giant DISGRACE. Liberals are attracted to trashy values.

"Now they are destroying Joan Kennedy because she is an embarrassment to the family."
Really! She is incompetent to sell her property, but she can make a deal with these reprobates.
They have been calling Joan Kennedy a drunk for decades now, but fat Teddy is called the "esteemed senior senator." What a load. She probably has a lot of good stuff on that sleaze bag ex of hers. Now their own kids are in on the BS.
Imagine publicly humiliating your own mother like this.

Sadly he has been my senator for the 20+ years I have lived in MA. I also remember his antics when I came back from Vietnam. The guy is a lying scumbucket. A lot of the Kennedy women wind up having problems. Don't you remember the stories about Phat Teddy and Chris Dud doing a senatorial sandwich with a waitress? Or his death ride with Mary Jo? Imagine being his wife? Pontificating on the Kennedy's is fair game, although we should lay off Joan, she is one of the few people that has true victim status.
