Per Fox News...
I understand what you are saying, but as a mother I will teach my son that NO means NO, don't second guess because it can get you in lots of trouble!!!
Better to walk away and suffer a prolonged HO until a cold shower is available than to face prison time for rape and/or murder.
The ones who killed her need to be eradicated from existence!!
Its weird..we had a case in our state where a teenager went on a "satanic rampage"..he listened to dark metal and was into all the occult stuff...one night he murdered his entire family with either an ax or machete and was roaming the street covered in blood....it took several cops to gain control of him as I recall...he was clearly possessed and/or on meth or something.
Not one peep in the national news and actually I never heard much more about it after the first report. Now THAT seems like it would be a national story.
I can understand panicking, though. Especially if booze and sex were involved.
Probably your acquaintance wasn't young and photogenic enough.
"DO NOT BLAME THE VICTIM"
It's not a matter of blaming the victim in my view, it's a matter of taking this as a cautionary tale. Think of it as an opportunity to reaffirm in your kids time-tested rules of safety such as "don't go anywhere alone with strangers", and as another freeper put it "nothing good happens after midnight"
EXCELLENT point...although they did break the case fairly quickly. One would hope the Arubans would have done the same if the girl was local.
They're discovering now that certain aspects of intelligence aren't fully formed until the mid twenties.
I remember myself at 18....Yikes....Not much judgment.
Bio father is divorced from Natalee's mom. He's also retired special ops. Natalee didn't live with him, and I suspect that if she had, she'd be alive right now. He'd have hammered all sorts of warnings into her very pretty head. She'd have been much more streetwise.
Yes, I keep hearing the "boys" vs "Young woman" too.
As in "boys will be boys"???
I think you're wrong. Since most of Aruba's economy is tourist based, they'll throw the book at these guys.
I am doing my best to teach my kids to save themselves for their spouses. I don't know if I will accomplish it, but I am doing the best I can!
I applaud you for what you are teaching your children!
So true. A student was abducted off the campus where my daughter and son went to school. She was found murdered later that day. You cannot imagine a more idyllic setting for a school and you would never worry about your child being there.
Some local drifter wandered onto the campus and grabbed the first coed he could find. This happened in broad daylight.
One never knows where evil lurks.
LOL
I had some judgement, but I didnt have any common sense :)
add to that I am a stubborn person...well it was a nasty mix until I was about 22 or so...
Being in the Army helped. Meeting my wife helped more.
my understanding is there will be no jury trial and murder is a automatic sentence to life in prison.
Bump to that.
Prayers for this girls family. I cant imagine what they are going through.
I teach my son to never hit a girl...I teach my daughter to never put herself in the position of a man by throwing the first punch!!
"I am doing my best to teach my kids to save themselves for their spouses. I don't know if I will accomplish it, but I am doing the best I can!"
Even if you don't accomplish it, you will have set an important buffer. They might not save themselves for their spouses, but they will remember your words and not sleep around excessively either. Alot of kids today (myself included) grew up honestly thinking there's nothing wrong with having sex with as many people as possible at 18.
Now for the "why"? I suspect she turned his advances down, and that was something he wasn't used to. Goes along with the 'anger management' problems discussed by a reporter.
