Per Fox News...
Damn! Just Damn!
Everybody lies.
Yep, RUMINT is that is that there was an altercation between the three and some of her classmates too. Autopsie will be interesting finding booze will be one thing but if they find date-rape drugs.
I bet that they slipped her the date rape drug, which might explain her leaving with them if she was "out of it"...then perhaps she OD'ed on it, slipped and fell or they just simply gave her too much. That would explain the "something bad happened to her" AND why she left.
Also, where the heck were her 'friends'...if they were there with her they should have noticed and been more involved (I haven't been following extremely closely so maybe there is an answer for this)
Right!
I also teach my boys to stay away from stupid girls who
have NO respect of herself or her body.
Exactly!!! Also, teach them to treat all females like ladies, even if they don't always think they are ladies.
The father is ex-special ops, so he may have better access to on going information, since the FBI is there also.
I just heard the lady on FNC say that she was NOT 18. She was 17.
We walk a fine line between making them paranoid and keeping them safe.
My daughter has travelled abroad as a teen, once even travelling to Germany on her own.
Our daughters go to the mall, work jobs that keep them late, and always there is danger lurking.
Sometimes a person is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
In other words, DO NOT BLAME THE VICTIM.
That's because the media (and the public) takes incidents like this and turns them into almost some kind of sick reality show. It allows armchair 'experts' to offer up opinions on things without having a clue as to what's really going on.
A damsel must be white. This requirement is nonnegotiable. It helps if her frame is of dimensions that breathless cable television reporters can credibly describe as "petite," and it also helps if she's the kind of woman who wouldn't really mind being called "petite," a woman with a good deal of princess in her personality. She must be attractive -- also nonnegotiable. Her economic status should be middle class or higher, but an exception can be made in the case of wartime (see: [Jessica] Lynch).
There is a factor that excceds these. It's not so much white but blonde. With photos made readily available, probably several, so Fox/CNN, etc. can flash them.
If not blond, for notoriety need possible political connection (Chandra Levy) or very bizarre circumstances and perp available for video replays (Laci and Scott Peterson).
Van Sloot's mother was on tv, two snippets of time. Poor woman. First interview, probably a few days ago, she said her boy was innocent, and she was heartbroken about Natalee and praying for her and her family all the time. She looked very, very upset. She knows her son, let's face it. Second interview, she looked like an unmade bed, desperate, that haunted look in the back of her eyes -- she knew her son was guilty, and was falling apart. This time she didn't say he was innocent, just that she was praying for Natalee and her parents and that she had them in her heart and mind all the time. That son of hers, there was a picture of him a few days back, taken at some party...he had a half naked adolescent girl on a leash. Both laughing it up. He ran wild, and Natalee's friends said everytime they looked around, there he was...stalking her.
"Everyone who says they wouldnt let their child go to a place like this is kidding themselves if they think they will be in a safer environment in most any college town."
I agree. Think of this not as "blaming the victim", but as a cautionary tale. She abandoned the most basic rule of safety... never go somewhere alone with strangers. College girls are extremely naive, fathers need to be very blunt about what young men are like, even if it's awkward.
Obviously, everyone here hoped she'd be alive, but that was never a realistic outcome. The island is too small, the ways to leave it are limited, and the missing person too distinctive.
That's not important at this point. I'm glad they've found her body because finally the grieving process can begin and eventually end.
I hope the full story will come out and justice will be served.
"If these well-connected lads do much time at all for this, I'll be surprised."
Perhaps they should be extrdickted with an AIDs weenie and solitarized for as long as she remains dead.
OK,.... we'll just have see what officially comes out then.
I thought that for about 10 seconds last night, when the news came one had stated "something bad happened."
If that was the case, they should have gone to the police and said there was an accident. They wouldn't be sitting in jail right now & Natalee's family wouldn't have been going thru all this worry and waiting.
Another peculiar thing: the reporters kept calling the three arrested men...boys. They're 17, 18, and 21. Natalee has been referred to as a young woman.
When my husband was in Curaco on business once, he was told by the shipping agent to stay close to his hotel and never take a cab outside of town after dark.
