Agree that her version of "her" role sounds suspicious, tha fact remains that he is 40 and she was 14. THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN EXCUSE HIS BEHAVIOR I DON'T CARE IF SHE BEGGED FOR IT.

It is a shame that this story ( any story like this ) had to run before any hard evidence other than her word on a year old incident. He is basically screwed even if innocent.

depending upon the state.
there are still, I think THREE that have age of consent at 14
Iowa, Missouri and South Carolina.

there used to be around 15-20 of them... primarily states in the south.

so you are right that Statutory Rape charges may be in order... if it actually occured.

there is also the issue of emacipation.
an emancipated 15-16 year old is legally an adult (and basically acheives all the rights, privileges, freeoms and responsibilities of that adulthood)... and can often consent without parental permission to just about anything.
