The cup is half-full. They would much higher if he would take a stand on illegal immigration and the Council of Rinos would stop stabbing him in the back.

Oh NO!!!! He may not win re-election!!!! Other than trying to 'rally' the public about certain issues (social security, Patriot Act) these polls now do not mean too much and frankly, in my opinion, are not as important as the actual issues Bush chooses to press the next 3 years...Bush has taken some very difficult stances that have not depended on poll numbers and I suspect he will continue to do so...especially now.

"Yawn. If anyone's interested."

Well, Rasmussen has been much more accurate than the other polls the liberal media use, such as todays Associated Press-Ipsos poll showing a 43% number

I post this only because there's some AP poll out showing Bush job approval at 43%. Go figure.

according to the new AP poll Bush's JA is @ 43%. Rasmussen @ 51%. The media will obviously focus on the AP poll instead of Rasmussen. Even though Rasmussen was the most accurate. These polls are meaningless. It is basically the media trying to say "you see the country doesn't like Bush, doesn't like the war". And it seems to be working because Laura Ingraham is harping on these numbers. But we at Freerepublic are experienced poll watchers and we know this is probably a push poll.

yawn, I agree. On the local news out here { SF Bay Area} they are saying Bush is at 43%, I wonder what poll these clowns are using, of course they report the lowest one they can find.

Heck, in this flavor-of-the-week/short-attention-span culture, 51% is a miracle.

thanks for posting a Rasmussen poll. I don't pay much attention to any of them, but it's always good when the oft-repeated,highly touted, predictably Bush-negative Washington Post, CNN, USAToday polls, get some competition.

Disconnect

In the 4 1/2 months since President Bush was sworn into his second term in office, the following domestic agenda items have been signed, sealed, and delivered:

1) The Senate confirmed five of the conservative appellate-court nominees against whom filibusters were asserted last Congress.

2) Congress passed an FY 2006 budget in which various federal programs had their growth rates cut – including Medi-caid! – or completely frozen. And further business tax breaks were granted too.

3) Comprehensive class action lawsuit reforms were passed.

4) The Real ID Act was implemented.

5) Comprehensive bankruptcy reforms were passed.

6) ANWR drilling was approved.

In addition, the following matters currently are in the Congressional pipeline:

a) More of the President’s judicial nominees.

b) Asbestos lawsuit reforms.

c) Comprehensive energy policy reforms.

d) The beginning stages of National Ponzi Scheme reform; a task that even the great Ronald Reagan, by way of example, never had the political juice to contemplate, much less to effectuate.

That’s in 4 1/2 months, Sullivan-Reynolds.

There still are over 3 1/2 Congressional sessions yet to come.

On the other hand, this is how “America’s Newspaper” is emoting over their interpretation of the lay of the political land.

Ahem.

The media *is* the Democratic Party.

And vice-versa.

They’re separated from reality.

And there’s little to no hope for reconciliation.

From the talk you'd think approval was running about 20%.
