The cup is half-full. They would much higher if he would take a stand on illegal immigration and the Council of Rinos would stop stabbing him in the back.

I really don't understand why Bush and 99% of the GOP is not taking a better stance on illegal immigration.

Mike Pence in 2008...

Oh NO!!!! He may not win re-election!!!! Other than trying to 'rally' the public about certain issues (social security, Patriot Act) these polls now do not mean too much and frankly, in my opinion, are not as important as the actual issues Bush chooses to press the next 3 years...Bush has taken some very difficult stances that have not depended on poll numbers and I suspect he will continue to do so...especially now.

I think your 99% is off the mark. In my opinion many in the GOP are sick of immigration and want something done about it. Why do you think Michael Savage's ratings have gone through the roof? People are sick of the administration's stand on immigration and culture, language, and borders matter! Immigration is going to tarnish an otherwise good legacy. Like it has been pointed out on this thread, "It's the borders, stupid."

I agree, but immigration, in my estimation, is a far worse immediate problem the Social Security reform.

"Yawn. If anyone's interested."

Well, Rasmussen has been much more accurate than the other polls the liberal media use, such as todays Associated Press-Ipsos poll showing a 43% number

I post this only because there's some AP poll out showing Bush job approval at 43%. Go figure.

according to the new AP poll Bush's JA is @ 43%. Rasmussen @ 51%. The media will obviously focus on the AP poll instead of Rasmussen. Even though Rasmussen was the most accurate. These polls are meaningless. It is basically the media trying to say "you see the country doesn't like Bush, doesn't like the war". And it seems to be working because Laura Ingraham is harping on these numbers. But we at Freerepublic are experienced poll watchers and we know this is probably a push poll.

yawn, I agree. On the local news out here { SF Bay Area} they are saying Bush is at 43%, I wonder what poll these clowns are using, of course they report the lowest one they can find.

I don't think either number means anything. I think all of us here are smart enough to realize the failings of any poll this far out of any sort of election using only "adults." To me, both polls are rather meaningless but the MSM will huff and puff about what's wrong with Bush and his agenda because of that one AP poll. I posted this sort of as a feel good item.

Yeah, I know. It's frustrating. Look at it this way, if it was Kerry in there Texas would be deeded back to Mexico.

Why do you think Michael Savage's ratings have gone through the roof?

Because he comes on after all the heavy hitters have finished their shows?

Figures...it's time to trot out the crAP poll to try and weaken the President in advance of Rehnquist's impending retirement later this month.
