June 9, 2005 -- A World Trade Center Memorial Foundation director is raising a storm over the International Freedom Center planned for Ground Zero, charging that it will slight memories of 9/11 by staging exhibits that have nothing to do with the tragedy.

Debra Burlingame also says that some people involved in the Freedom Center have a blame-America political bent and have undermined the war on terror.

She has raised the specter of the Freedom Center being used to teach about Native American genocide, lynchings in the South, the Holocaust, Chinese dissidents and abuse at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.

"I think the American people will be shocked" when the Freedom Center opens its doors in 2010, said Burlingame, whose brother Charles "Chic" Burlingame was the pilot of the American Airlines flight that was flown into the Pentagon on 9/11.

In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece on Tuesday, Burlingame raised questions about Freedom Center head Tom Bernstein, who she notes is the president of Human Rights First. The group has sued on behalf of terror detainees in Iraq and Afghanistan.

She also cites several academics and others, among the dozens of advisers to the Freedom Center, as a "Who's Who of the human rights, Guantanamo-obsessed world."

If they want to do those things - Let them build their own museums or exhibits somewhere else! It's just like those liberal protests in the streets - 20,000 hateful anti-american topics.

It is very distributing especially with Soros in the act. Yesterday I starting sending emails to all at Fox and Rush and Laura. We need to get the word out on this story and what IFC is really doing. It is a shame that this Freedom Center is not really what America expects for the 9/11 memorial. This needs to be changed and Soros out.

Frankly, don't understand much of this.

Wouldn't the best response have been to expeditiously resurrect the area- in precisely the way it existed status quo ante, 9/10.

If, they had been successful in demolishing the White House, would we have given the terrorists the satisfaction of rebuilding it the form of a "Freedom Center"- and moving the President elsewhere- or would we have rebuilt an exact replica of the White House as quickly as possible?

We all would like the Twin Towers back but I doublt it will happen. Trump was giving us a bit of hope but so far it fizzled out! Even if the twin towers were rebuilt - they cannot be built on the footprints because to the families of the victims it is considered hallowed ground. The footprints are going to be part of the memorial. We will be able to see them.

Good point! The Smithsonian attempt to sell out the original resurrection of the Enola Gay exhibit as an apology to Japan came to mind immediately when I heard about this Gound Zero BS. We prevented that fiasco, we can stop this one. The "Hate America" people have to be given the boot.

I would love to know 'who' said that.

So far, the only ones that have spoken out about the WTC is this Human Rights First group that hijacked the memorial.

I want the towers back. Everyone I've spoken to want them back AND TALLER.

Of course a memorial is needed; but no one (real victims, as opposed to the hijacked left) has said that is hollowed ground.

Human Rights First, Human Rights Watch, International Action Center, International A.N.S.W.E.R, Not in Our Name and the various other conga line of ORGS are the ones we are at war with. These are the mental patients that hijacked Vietnam. These are the mental patients that empowered the terrorist fashion of Islam. A country has never been named in the war because they are in our country. Holding offices. Running the media.

I would love to fight these people. But most of them are lawyers that know more rules than I do. And all of them have the deep pockets of Ahmed Huber, Ramsey Clark, Hillary Clinton, George Soros and the money laundering NGOs.

I'm very open for suggestions.

Well, if this is any indication, we would have built some foolish monstrosity near the spot.

We couldn't possibly rebuild the White House because who would ever want to be President and live there, surely inviting another attack?

I read an article about the Enola Gay exhibit. They asked one of the Smithsonian heads about their wuss out on the exhibit and he said "it's not the job of the Smithsonian to showcase America at it's best"( IIRC). Turns out he was completely wrong, it's in the museum's charter that they are supposed to show America in a good light.

Seems there are a number of folks at the Smithsonian that don't understand, or don't accept their mission. They shouldn't work there.
